Can anyone help me out?
I have a RM Windowbox (Windows 98) which we use to run AP and we have always run it from the Manager side (if you know RM machines you'll know what I'm tallking about) - but now we have decided we want to have the option to run it from the Work side. I have used Classmate Manager to 'put' it into different folders and into Work but it doesn't seem to want to work for me - I know other schools are using AP from the Work side so it's probably something I'm doing - can anyone shed any light on this one?!
Thanks

Hi Sarah,
I know that this has been a problem for some other schools in Portsmouth, but as you state they have got round it. I actually think that they needed support from RM to access the relevant info.
Not sure if that is a helpful response  Sorry!

Well as reponses go, it could have been worse!!
Thanks - maybe a quick call (ha ha!! ) to RM may be the answer - if I find out how to do it I'll post it.
P.S. Where has the waving smilie gone??

Sarah,
I had this problem at first when we first got our boards fitted, This was a little while back, so I can't remember how I solved it! It can be done though! I'll see if I can check it out tomorrow and let you know. It really frustrated me for a while though! ;)

Hi Sarah!
Turns out I was wrong! I hadn't been able to do it last time, but....I did it! YAY! OK, I'm sure there's an easier way to do this, but it took me 45mins of trying different things before I finally managed to do it! So this is how I managed it.
Before I explain, do you have the problem that when you move AP to Work, then try and click on it in work, it comes up with a message saying it can't install it and to contact your system administrator? If so, it's because it can't access ALL the files. Here's how to do it...
Go in to classmate manager, click on work and then where you want it to go - word of warning, you're going to be putting tons of stuff in there, so you may want to create a new folder called ACTIVPrimary! I used accessories, because it was empty! Keep this folder open!
Open up My computer. Go to your hard drive, then Program Files, then you should see a folder called ACTIVSoft. Open this folder and you should see two folders, one called ACTIVdriver and one called ACTIVPrimary. Drag each folder separately in to where you want them in Work. (e.g. accessories or whatever!) You should find that tons of things go in there. Then close down My Computer and you have AP in work!
Ah, I hear you say, the problem now is that there's lots of icons in the box for children to click on! I solved this one by highlighting 'work' in classmate manager and clicking on edit, user properties. Then click on desktop layout (I think it's called) and I brought up the accessories box and resized it, so that ONLY the AP icon appeared in the space. Now when you load up work, a small box comes up with just the AP icon visible. All the other stuff is there, but you'd have to scroll down to get there, and the children won't know that!
I know that sounds long and complicated, but it's not really! :) I really hope it works for you, or at least helps somewhat! Let me know if it does, or if there's any more problems!

Hi Alison,
Thanks for finding the answer and spending so much time on it - I'll try and have a go this week and let you know how I get on.
Thanks again
