View Full Version : Miss the Activboard but not miss the teacher :))
As I wrapped up teaching the last class for this school year, I overheard a student comment " I will miss this board" :p
To me this is truly the story of good technology affecting a student positively.
Never mind the fact that the student did not say "I will miss you" clwnclwn

That is hysterical!!! I guess what you did on the board didn't count!!!
That is so great! Obviously your fantastic job at using the board for learning and teaching has made it truely memorable for that pupil!

Everytime they say "I will miss the board", they are really saying, "I will miss the way that you used the board!"

I too have a funny story. My 5th graders had to complete their last county writing prompt and my lowest student wrote about the board. That she wanted to have one and become the best at it and someday come back and teach me things that I may not know. Until now I had not realized how much they were involved with the board. I have only had it a few months and have been trying out new things (and making mistakes which they think is funny) but they all seem to be involved. I have had a few ask me how much the board costs so they can get one for their bedrooms. It's amazing to see things through their eyes, once and a while. Way to go Promethean!! :D[clap]:D[clap]

My second graders want to make a flipchart for the new second graders coming up next year. Tuesday is their last day, I am thinking I will let them make one. The little stinkers are pretty good at making them... it just takes them a long time.
They are forever asking if they can get one at Target for their room. They are too funny.[clap]

That is really funny. I'm thinking a good first week of school activity might be to choose a name for my board, if it's going to be part of our family!

WHAT A GREAT IDEA! I have never even thought of a name for my board, and now I can't wait to run that idea by my kids tomorrow!

Isn't it funny how the kids sometimes forget the person behind the board. Like so many other things in their lives, those lessons just appear before them without any thought given to the hours and hours you have put into making things spectacular.
I would take the "I will miss this board" comment as a definite compliment and feel good about the fact that you have impacted at least one student's learning to the point that they will miss it. Congratulations in that respect.
By the way, I am soooo jealous of the fact that you are DONE with school. We have ten days left and I think I will be lucky to survive!!!!!
Happy Summer.

OH BABY our last student day was Tuesday... we met on our new reading book today with the publishers as one workday and we have one more tomorrow. My summer will be spent working on flipchart to use with this new book. YEA!
I love the thought of naming the board... how fun. Gong to do that in August when we start back to school.
Wouldn't it be fun to have a school full of active ActivBoard classroom???

Janet,
I like the idea of naming your board.
Maybe you should start a new thread and have people offer suggestions for the name?
I have also seen some teachers put some red fabric around the board and make it look like a movie screen.
