OK... Now the Northwest needs some representation in a resource pack. Please post some suggestions for items to include in a WA resource pack.

Obvious ones... I am more familiar with Western Washington, so I need some assistance here.

Mt. Ranier
Mt. Baker
Cascade Mountains
Ho Rain forest
WA state ferries
Space Needle
Lake Washington
Puget Sound
San Juan Islands

Resources on Salmon & Apples? Lewis & Clark images, Northwestern Art (Totem Poles, and such) Northwestern Native Fishing Weirs (frequently used by the Yakima People). Mt St Helens, Rainer, Glacier, & Baker. (all Volcanos)

The Hoh Rainforest is a part of the only temperate Rainforest in the entire world. (The temperate rainforest extends into Brittish Colombia Canada.)

The Columbia River & Puget Sound were instrumental in the history of Washington State. (As they were transportation routes) Wagon trains that came into the Puget Sound area came through Snoqualmie Pass. (There are still trees scarred by the passing wagon train wheels. There are also remanents of the "boardwalk roadway" to keep the wheels out of the mucky mud. )

Is that any help?

When I think of Washington I think of fly fishing and Mt. St. Helens! Just had to add my two cents...

OK, I have never actually visited Washington state, but I will say the one thing I know of that comes from Washington is coffee, specifically STARBUCKS... It's from Seattle, right?

Which Starbucks do you want to visit? If you stand in an intersection, you probably have 4 choices, NE, NW, SE, SW corners... I visited the original Starbucks near Pike Place market.;)

That's the one! I think a picture of the original would be sooo cool in the Resource Pack! I totally understand about one being on all four corners... I have been on that corner in the other Washington (DC, that is), and that would also be a fun picture.

Thanks again for everything, Kathy!

Actually it seems that this is the Second "original" Starbucks. I couldn't find photos of that one.

How about including the Boeing plant in Everett (just north of Seattle) and Pike Place Market too - must be some great images of those guys tossing salmon!
And how about the State flower: Coast Rhododendron Rhododendron macrophyllum and the State bird: Willow Goldfinch Carduelis tristis and there must be other State emblems like the Seal of the State of Washington, and of course the wonderful State Capitol building in Olympia.
And don't forget the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and Chihuly glass...

Wow! What great ideas! I'm in the process of building the resource pack now.

I'm searching for "people" related to Washington State! Here's what I've found so far:

Adam West (batman)
Bill Games
Bing Crosby
Bob Barker
Chris Gregoire
Dick Scobee
Gary Locke
George Washington
Jimi Hendrix
John Elway
Kenny Loggins
Kurt Cobain
Phil MahreI'm sure there are other historical figures that are taught in Washington State history courses. Anyone know who they are?

Ah yes, I take back my earlier comment! They were under the title of "Original Starbucks" and not where I was looking for them, under "Starbucks."

I feel like a HUGE idiot now!
