Hello!
I hope someone could help me to find out what is wrong with my video...
I have created my own video and have converted it to "swf" format in order to use it within flipchart. When I place it (right click > Insert > Video placeholder) in flipchart it loops again and again. And there is no option to stop it! Is there somehow possible to place "swf" video without loop option?
The same is when I go trough Actions > File > Open Embedded document or file. Since it opens in new window in this case I have "close" option at least. But I prefer placeholder, because there is possibility to define the size of picture.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Elina,
If your output is swf then why dont you embed it as a flash file in your flipchart. That will stop the looping.

You mean as Flash Placeholder? I tried, but the same problem...
When you converted from video to swf flash, did you have the option to incliude the controller ( with the play, rewind, etc)
Why dont you just insert your original video and then keep the "loop" unchecked:

During convertation process I had no option to include the controller. I used some freeware - "Super". Can you suggest better one?
I wanted to use swf video, because the size of file is small - only 2.3 MB (original is about 180 MB). That is the reason why I didn`t use original video... ;) And there is bigger guaranty, that most of Activstudio users have Flash player than other specific codecs, which are used for compressing and playing video files.

Try Camtasia Studio. It is not free however.

One thought to consider: when you export a movie file to the swf format, you, in many cases, have to create a Stop action in the Actionscript to tell the movie to stop, otherwise it will loop continuously. If you have Quicktime Pro ($29.99), you can export your file to native .avi (PC) or .mov (Mac). You can also use some free online converters. As a general rule, if you are trying to convert a movie file into Flash, it would be best to export as an .flv format (flash video).

Ok, I have to ask. Do you really live in the Himalayas?

FLV is THE FORMAT these days.
I am always amazed at the superb audio and video quality of FLV video and the small file size.
Waiting anxiously for Activstudio to support FLV inside the flipchart !!

Yes, I know, but Activstudio doesn`t support this type of format...
Before getting my "ActivStuff" I used a bunch of Powerpoints...where I would paste swf files from my textbook support media. Powerpoint had a way of letting me specify a flash player rather than the default video window to run the video...the flash player (free on the web) had some nice controls (volume, rewind, pause, etc). Is there a way to do this in ActivStudio?
I can't change the SWF files...they're from the text book's companion CD. Also, converting their format would be too time consuming. I would love to have the videos open my free flash player...just like powerpoint does.

You can go to Studio Settings - Linked File Hosting, and uncheck Shockwave Flash Movies. This will cause Activstudio not to use its own Flash player, but to have the default player on the computer play the files. So, if you want use a particular player, you would have to make sure that it is the default player for *.swf files on your computer before using that particular flipchart.
I hope this makes sense!
Yes!!! That did it.
Also, to anyone else plagued by the looping video that you can't control, this solves that problem. Download the Flash Movie Player:
http://www.download.com/Flash-Movie-Player/3000-2139_4-10423716.html
Set it as the default player for swf files (right click on a swf file click "open with" then "Choose Default Program") Then remove the check for shockwave flash video in the "linked file hosting" menu from "studio settings."
The free player works very well, the control bar is small and unobtrusive...but gives you the ability to stop, rewind, adjust volume, etc. And it does NOT LOOP!!!
