Hi again...

My one and only ActivBoard is portable, which I do NOT like but it does give me the chance to show it off to all classrooms :D

anyway....... on Friday I noticed I had to recalibrate it a lot! That was one thing I despised about SmartBoards having to recalibrate a lot. I was curious if anyone has any thoughts on what I can do to eliminate some of these calibration needs....this is what I do...

I set up the board and lock the board in place, once I get my projector set up and display is okay, I lock that also.... I am just curious if I could be overlooking anything. I know our rep said it would be a much better board if it were mounted and not moved around but that is not an option for me at present.

Thanks!

First off, are you using the quick way to calibrate? Just hover the pen over the flame in the upper left hand corner of the board.

If you have a projector cart, you can put tape down on the ground where it is supposed to be, making it easier to put it in the right spot. I would also use the "wings" on the stand to help keep it in place.

I do use the quick way a lot! I always wondered what those wings were for:)

Try swinging those wings out and they should help to keep the board steady and you shouldn't have to calibrate as much.

Summertime and room cleanings... my portable board was moved and the USB accidentally disconnected. I plugged it back in, fired everything up and now the board is not interacting. The upper left corner fire flame guy is flickering continually. I tried the quick callibrate and no luck. The board and pens, are not talking to eachother. I have all the updates... and other ideas before tech support?

Many thanks....

Have you tried all the USB ports? Older drivers worked with a particular usb port and each one had to be set up for it to work. This is not the case with lastest V4 driver though.

Thanks for the tip, I will try another port. I have a 4 port extension to run the mouse, votes, pen drive and board. I do also have the board using a USB extension. Perhaps, too many extensions? I also have the V4 installed. I tried to reinstall it as the forum suggested when the pen was not responding to the board with no luck. I'm supposed to do a demo this evening.... keep the tips coming... thanks

The maximum length of USB cable is 5m. If you extend beyond this you will need an 'active' extension which is effectively a single port hub. Try removing the extension.

Wonderful news. Thanks. After walking away last night and unplugging everything, I plugged it all back in today, turned everything back on... and voila, my old friend is back. Thanks for all the tips.[clap]
