Hi Folks, new user here and just wondering how you can import images and retain transparency, for example I have a leaf that is cut out and saved as .PSD (photoshop file) I can import it but it has a white box around it tried as gif and a tif but no luck. Any ideas on the best way to keep an object cut out ?????????

I use the color picker and click on the background color on my page. Then, I use the paint bucket to fill in the background of the picture to match the current background of the flipchart page. This way makes it blend smoothly.
Or, you could drag your picture on your flipchart page and then use the camera tool to "freehand" around your picture/image. Save it to your page and delete the first image with your white background.

There is a way of doing this in a more techie way, but you have to use magenta pink (this is the least likely used colour in the palette) Pete knows how to do this, I will email him....[clap]

Hey! I figured it out!
1. Double click on your picture that you copied or dragged onto your flipchart page.
2. Click on your Properties box (red tick or blue for Mac).
3. Choose Appearance then click on Transparent and check the Pick Through Box
4. It will have a black or some other color rectangular box. Click in the box and an image of your picture is displayed.
5. Use your color picker tool and click on the white background of your image.
6. Now it is set to transparent!
Easy fix!

Corey,
Hiya! As far as I know, Activstudio does not support transparency. The suggestions above will be your best way of getting a pseudo-transparent image--that is, if you create your Photoshop file with the background layer as fuchsia (or a similar color) you can then use the "color-picker" in Studio to make the background "transparent". Experiment exporting your Photoshop file as a png, gif or tiff file to see which one produces the best results. If you are using a picture of a leaf which is not vector art, I would stay away from the .gif format as you know it only supports a 256-color range and your results may not be that good. Also, be sure you do not use any shadows since Studio will not know how to handle the color change at the edges.
