If you look at the page where you download the pack from it will tell you e.g This resource pack will install in: Shared Images/Fine Arts/Art/Art by type

If you use the resource manager to load them (instead of just clicking on them) it will show you a preview of what is in the pack as well as show the tree on the left (open to the spot where the new resources reside).

Good luck tracking them all down. :)

Also bear in mind, downloading them does not mean that they are installed. They were just downloaded as a big file to wherever your computer's browser is set to download stuff.

There is a video tutorial about Resource Packs here that might help:

See: http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/ConWebDoc.4495

I would like to see the videos for PCs or Macs- Unfortunately I have had little to no experience with PCs - the video tutorial is all in PC - it would be great if you they gave options in the tutorials - PC or Mac versions.

I use a Mac (mostly) and yes, there are some differences between the Promethean software on the two platforms unfortunately,

If this is any consolation, the Curriculum Corner videos were developed using Mac and PC (depending on the video) and sometimes using Studio and sometimes using Primary....

You can see these here:
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/nav.1793

They are a "little" bit like the Activtips but are more focused on going through a particular flipchart on how to use it (with some "tips" thrown in)... so they could be helpful even if you aren't interested in this particular subject/flipchart.

Also, you will find that the Level 1 Introductory Courses for Studio and Primary are available specifically for Mac.

Check them out here-- they're FREE!

Hi Carrielou.

It's also worthwhile noting that the resource packs on Planet US sometimes download to a different location in your library to the ones on Planet UK/International, due to some slight differences to the resource library architecture between US and UK English software.

I typed up directions for our teachers in the district and included pictures of each step. If you would find this helpful, PM me and I can always email it to you.

I PM'd Aimee, and her info sheet is VERY nice...

If you or someone you know is having trouble with resource pack downloads, shoot her a PM, and she can send it to you, because it is really very helpful... I am going to pass it on to our Art teacher tomorrow so she can download the fantastic new art packs now on the US Site!

Several - thanks you your seal of approval :) I must have been blind as I did not see the paper clip in the message area and thought I could not attach a word doc. (duh)

You do not have to open the resource manager to install a resource pack... strangely enough. You can double-click the icon of the resource pack and it will open and install all by itself. Also, when you are on Promethean Planet, instead of saying "save" you can say "open" and the resource pack will download and install immediately. On the page you download it from it usually says where it will install. Also, if you have Activstudio open when you download a resource pack you will not see it immediately. The next time you open it the new resources will appear.

Carrielou,

What exactly do you mean it won't let you open the Resource Manager? I have never seen that problem before, so it would be interesting to hear more about it (and maybe we can help you figure out why it won't let you open it!)!

Carrielou,

Have you tried accessing it from its "home" location without going through the dashboard? I know that on PC's, you can go to your start menu, then Activ Software, then ActivStudio, and then you should see it in the ActivExtra's folder. That may open it, but let us know!

OK, let's try a new tactic... Which exact version of the software are you running?

It's version 3

You may want to download the updates to the software. Go to the dashboard, and then go to Support. There, you can download these updates (for PC, its 3.6.14), and this might actually help with your Resource Manager. I have never seen this kind of problem, but I am throwing out some ideas for you!

Ben is right about updating the software. I would do that first. Then if you are still having trouble, I would uninstall and then reinstall the software again.

Diane,

That was going to be my next suggestion, but I at least want to see if updating the software would fix it before the drastic suggestion of uninstalling then reinstalling... Hopefully, hopefully the updates will work, but please keep us updated, Carrielou!
