In version 3.6 build 117, go to preferences then the effects options, there is a box that states: Right Click captures Image.
I was curious as to what this does? I cannot see any difference in having it checked and not checked. This shows to be a new feature for ActivPrimary and ActivStudio.
Thanks for your info....

Sjpwa62,
This is if you have this box clicked, when you have the spotlight tool on, and then you right click, it will take a picture of whatever area the spotlight is showing.
I love having this boxed checked, because it allows you to have a circular tool for taking pictures, which is currently not really available with the software.
Let me know if this works for you!

This is a great tool to capture parts/sections of a picture or image, then have the students try to determine what the full picture is.
Great technique for history, art, and language arts (illustrations).
Like Ben said, just use the orange barrel (right-click) button on the pen with the spotlight tool and it will drop that circular image right on the page.
Good luck!

Karen,
It is also really fun to "freak out the kids" by pulling part of the picture away... I did this just before my bulb blew, and they really like the effect of me "reading their minds" and pulling away the part of the picture they were thinking of.
It would also work really well with the picture challenge that Scott does in his presentation, where you have to pick where the picture would be the same or different based on 50 years... Remember that one? Use this tool to remove the "new parts" from the new picture and place them over their "old" counterparts and make them more transluscent a little... Just a thought...

I like it! This is a feature I don't use or show often enough. I need to start incorporating this into my presentations.
Thanks for the ideas :)

I was also showing some folks that it is a great way to get pictures of the faces of your kids. I used it with my class picture, and now have face snapshot of all my kids.
That's probably a neat way to show it off in front of other people you might want to think of...
