Pen Tool Selection Problem

With the pen tool selected on the tool bar, I often cannot use the writing instrument. Many times things are working fine and when switching from the marquee select tool and the pen tool, the pen tool stops working. This also seems to happen after using the mouse at the computer or if I have not used the board for a period of time (30 to 45 minutes). It is not a problem with the pen and the only way I've found I can correct the problem is to close down Activstudio and reopen it. It also doesn't seem to matter whether or not I am in Design Mode. ????Any ideas???

Hi Vickie, one possibility is that the computer might be running 'slow'. Is it an older machine or a newer, high-spec model? Is it trying to do too much at once?

Of course I could be wrong, but I've had similar problems when my computer has been struggling.

I suspect that your board is losing connection with your computer periodically and reconnecting.

I currently experience this everyday.I think in my case it is the USB extender is the culprit and one of the USB ports on my school computer is flaky.This is a windows USB problem

When the problem does happen, could you look at the bottom right tray on your computer and see what the status of the Activdriver icon is?....does it appear normal or does it have a red "X" ?

Have you tried unplugging the USB plug in the back of the computer and plugging it back in? I used to have this problem frequently, if not daily, and unplugging that cord would do the trick. My board's firmware was updated and the problem cured.

We had the same issue. Update of firmware was the cure!
