(My bad- I KNOW the Primary forum was not the right place, I put this same thread there, by accident. )
Not sure this is the right forum for this, but here goes:
Our original installation Sanyo projector was growing increasingly dimmer (after only 8 months:() so we replaced it with an NEC model that was much brighter:-/. The trouble is I seem to have lost about an inch and half on the sides of the projected image. Can anybody help me find my missing Activboard space? I know it doesn't sound like much, but it is noticeably less space to work with.
I am not a "projector guy." I would have thought that board was designed to fit a standard image from a given distance. What am I missing here. We (the IT department and yours truly) can't figure it out, so I thought I would go to source of all ActivKnowledge: you all.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I am running AS 3. 0 b96 on a MacBook under 10.4.11. We are using an NEC VT 700.
Thanks in advance.

We have had this problem with one of our Dukane Projectors that we have. We havn't quite figured it out yet... BUT, have you looked at your keystone or other image setting for your projector... that might be where you can increase the size of it.

Bill,
Your ACTIVboard settings and driver will have nothing to do with your image. Go to the menu and reset the projector to factory options. I know a teacher that adjust her projector all the time and her picture was messed up. We reset to factory settings and the image was great, albeit upside down.
You could also check the zoom ring on the lens. One other thing is that differing projector brands do not always project the same size image from the same distance from the wall.

That was helpful to someone else, sorry. We still can't get the NEC projector to correctly fill the AB, even after repositioning the ceiling mount so we were within the NEC's specs for the size of the image we wanted. We have moved the projector, reset its image settings, mucked about with the Macbook's resolution and still are out of luck (and adjustment :(.)
So I am "missing" an inch or two on either side of my AB. Does anyone know if this projector can be used effectively with this board?
On the plus side of things, I LOVE the brighter image…

Hi Bill,
If your image is filling the top and bottom of the screen and is still missing 2 inches either side, then that is the best you are going to do.
To add to Peter's post.
It is normal to be missing a few inches left and right of the board.
Remember you have the raised Promethean flame light at the very top left, which is not a writable surface.

Peter,
Thanks. Now I know that's the best I can do with this projector.
I "thought" I used to be able to, and the kids immediately noticed the brighter image and the apparently reduced writing space.
Am I mis-remembering, or could I use the entire flat surface of the board originally? Do some projectors actually totally cover the board?

Hi Bill,
No the board is actually designed to be slightly wider than the standard 4:3 image thrown by a projector. This is due to the internal configuration of the sensing grid, where at both edges it loops back on itself. The area around the loop is not crossed with a perpendicular grid so there is no co-ordinate generated. Hope this explains it, but without ripping an Activboard apart it is difficult to describe!

Peter, thanks. Your explanation makes sense-sort of like the old video games where the asteroids move off the screen to th right and come back on the left (?).
Anyway, I'm just glad to know all's well here, and I am not "missing" those usable square inches.
