My ActivBoard is portable so it gets more than it's fair share of handprints, scuffs, etc.

I am looking for suggestions on cleaning. I know what the company recommends but I wanted some first hand cleaning tips!

Thanks.

If a damp cloth won't do it, I've successfully used the cleaner we have for our normal whiteboards - dont' know the name though, sorry. :(

When we first got our boards we were told to use the dry erase board cleaner. We were also told to not spray the cleaner directly onto a board. Spray it on the rag and then wipe. I did this just last week and my board was sparkling!

EXPO Dry Erase cleaner works for many of my teachers in Texas.

I had one teacher who had permanent Sharpie on her board and we called tech support and they said a very small amount of 409 (very small amount) would help this.

Hope your board is sparkling soon!

If a damp cloth doesn't do it try putting a spot of washing up liquid on a damp cloth before using harsher chemicals.

A "Sharpie" is simply a permanent marker and "409" is your basic spray cleaner that you would use in the kitchen.

I have personally baby wipes (I'm not sure what you would call those in the UK) and the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers to clean the Activboard. Both work well. You really could use any number of items to clean the board, but the most important thing to keep in mind is to not use anything abrasive.

Is it safe to use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? I thought it was abrasive. I don't want to scratch my board. Someone told me to use it then wipe down with Pledge.

yes pledge is safe. you want to use a thin layer of pledge after you clean the board.
pledge reduces the friction on the board when writing with the pen.

Hi,

I have a mess up with Sharpie too. But I use Zippo Lighter Fluid to over come it together with a clean cloth.

P/S: never use this idea with naked flame next to it.

Hello, Saha.

Are you refer to Pledge Protection Plus+? I am asking because most of Pledge product is meant for wood product and the Activboard is a different surface.
