Hi All,

I am wanting to register more than one set of ACTIvotes onto my computer. We have 2 sets in our department, and I want to make it so I can pick up either set, and it will work. I know I can register 2 sets at once, but they are then registered as voters 1 - 64. If I pick up set 1, this is fine, I just assign the 32 kids to the first 32 spaces. If I pick up the second set, I still have to assign the kids to 1 - 32, then duplicate them, then assign them to sets 33 onwards, then mark 1 - 32 absent! Long winded!

Any ideas? I thought of assigning them to different channels, buty this is not it, it said it'd have to remove the first set.

Help!:(

Hi Craig,
Do you have the older RF Activotes or the newer 2.4Ghz Votes?
Are you doing anonymous voting or named voting or both?

I believe they are the older ones, they're about 3 years old, anyway.
I want to do named voting, I have all the maths class lists set up in the user database. I have been using the stuff for ages, but we're trying to get others to use them, which means using more sets and distributiong them around the department. I know I can just allocate one set to one group of staff, and the other set to others, but that often results in one set not being used because it's the 'other' set! (if that makes sense).

Cheers

Hi Craig,
If I understand you correctly this is what needs to be done.

All teachers who want to use any of the 64 Activotes, need to register all 64 devices.

Then voting needs to be done anonymous or named.
What you need to get away from in this scenario is physically labelling and allocating a fixed device to a specific student.

In named mode, have students pick Activotes randomly from the set of Activotes left over from the 64set and then allocated users using the 3 letter pin.

This way, you dont have to worry which set of Activotes you have left over from the 64 set.
Does this makes sense?

This makes sense:). Until now, I've never used the option to assign codes, etc. I always go for the bottom option, in which you assign numbered handsets to students 'for life' as it were.

I will probably use the PIN method, but for now, the rest of the department can settle for using just one set. They'll not cope with the added task of assigning PINs! One step at a time, for them!

Thanks

Craig
