View Full Version : Unable to detect the require hardware!

I had install number of Activstudio on Win Vista. So far I did not face much problem.

Today, I notice my new win Vista machine mention "Unable to detect the require hardware!" whenever I have start my Activstudio software V.3.0.7.

Any clue? Please advice. Thank in Advance.

Is it a Vista or an ACTIVstudio dialog box?

Is your board plugged in, that could be the required hardware???

It is a Activstudio dialog box.

You are right that I did nto plug in my board, but it should not stop me from open up the software, right?

On MS Vista Machines you have to install Activstudio version 3.5 and the activdriver 4.1.13 . With version 3.614 you do not have the watermark anymore. Think you only have to do an update.

I will find out for you, but my understanding is that in some versions of the software, hardware does need to be present for the software to run.

Hi - the software will run without hardware in all languages however you should have Promethean hardware attached to enable handwriting recognition and gestures.
Make sure you're running the latest version 3.6.14 as this feature only appeared in the last couple of builds.

If you can't start the dashboard>support you have to download the complete software in version 3.6.114 from the promethean webside. therefore you have to enter an active serial software number in the form (http://www.prometheanworld.com/uk/server/show/nav.2785 - Scroll down the page). Think that's the best solution david :)

This, I think, is a problem with the older version (Keith suggests it was fixed with the newer versions)

I suffered with it for months before someone on the forum told me the answer. The tech support were unable to help at all, yet it is relatively simple, if it is the same issue.

I had 2 pcs at home - a British (XP) laptop, and a Brazilian (XP) PC. The laptop was fine, but the PC always gave me the same message on v2 & v3 - 'unable to find the required hardware.'

Finally, I was told that the language of the PC had to be changed to English. On your PC:
Go to Control Panel>Regional and Language Options. Change it to English (UK) in Regional Options.

Should work - but it's probably best to update if this has been fixed on later versions
