Hi,
Wonder anyone of your face any problem with wide screen laptop with AB 78"?
Notice that Vista is going toward wide screen and so are many new laptop. Currently, I own a AB 78". And looking forward, I will equipment myself with a widescreen laptop.
In the past, while we are using Win XP, it will need to change resolution to fix projector. It not, we will face some resolution issue.
As we move forward to wide screen, I suspect we will have a change our machine resolution to fix the Activboard. As we perpare our flipchart during the missing for the Activboard, normally it will be in wide screen resolution. Wonder will we have any problem when we present it on a AB 78" with used a different resolution.

Hi David
In Activstudio Settings you can set the default page of a flipchart to 1024x768. This allows users of wide screen lap tops to create flipcharts that will fit the Activboard.

Thank you, David. I will give that a try. :)

Hi Davids,
I open a new flipchart in the 1024x768 option with my widescreen laptop, seems to do the trick.

Hi Jenny
Yes you can choose the 1024x768 option from the main menu which works fine if that's what you always do. However many people just click on the flipchart icon to get a new flipchart which opens a screen size flipchart automatically. So it's generally safer to set the size as the default under settings. But as is often the case with Activstudio there's usually more than one way to skin a cat!:D:D

David,
There are two issues that you will face:
ACTIVstudio settings, behavior.
Computer/Projector settings/behavior.
The others have described the ACTIVstudio behavior.
Potentially a few things could happen when you use a widescreen computer and connect it to your projector, depending, of course, on your projector.
I recommend the following:
Connect all cables before turning your computer on.
Turn your computer on.
The computer should detect the projector and will have a 4:3 scren resolution on the board and a stretched image on the computer or a 4:3 image with a black border.
I have seen them do a widescreen image on the board as well.
What I recommend is that you are not getting the image that you want, right click on the desktop and chose properties, settings, advanced and look for the display settings. Select the same image on the computer and projector (clone mode) and make the projector the primary monitor. Select apply and you should have the image you wish.
If the screen resolution is not where you want it, you can then go to the settings and adjust it to your desired settings on the slider bar.
You must do this while the projector is on and you have a computer image on the board.
I hope this helps...

I have a wide screen laptop running Vista. Imagine my surprise when I connected to a projector and the projector automatically adjusted the image to fit the 78" board (which of course is non-wide screen).
I can't see you having any problems David. However, for an originally sized projected image you might want to follow the advice above and create your flipcharts at 1024x768 resolution.

Hi, David.
I found what you mean.
Go to Dashboard, Configure, General Program Settings, Flipchart, Default Page size:.

Many thanks to all. You all are great.
With a question, we generate lot of way to overcome the issue.
Hi Bill,
Hope you are doing well.
I have a new laptop which is my work laptop and is a wide screen.
I am going to try your approach to use the clone mode as you suggest when I am back at work next week.
Now if I do that, how does the image look on my laptop screen when I am not connected to the projector?

One last option is to look to get a 16:9 wide-screen Activboard at some point.
There is general trend to Widescreen, so we have had a wide-screen board for a while - in fact I do not think I have seen a non-widescreen laptop for a few months.
