Would it be possible to create fraction without connecting to a Promethean hardware so as to faciliate easy offline creation?

If you have an Acitvhub ( the little egg thing that connects to your computer via the USB) then you can, but otherwise the Fraction Creator is disabled when your computer isn't connected to the board.

OR you could get an ActivTablet. It's a graphics tablet which when plugged into your PC/laptop allows full functionality of the software and also allows you to use the pen to draw on your flipchart (a lot easier than using the mouse) It also replaces the mouse/glide pad since the pen has full mouse capability - makes it a lot easier navigating around desktop etc.

I like the Activtablet also for when I want to use the freehand camera. I can't do that well at all with my mouse and/or trackpad!

Be sure if you get one that you do install the driver. It works without the driver but WITH the driver it allows for handwriting and fraction creation.

I've seen some folks think the driver was installed (because the tablet worked) and were frustrated when the handwriting stuff still wouldn't work.

I always love when Lisa answers my question for me right before I am about to post it [clap]! I was just wondering why the tablet didn't allow for handwritting recognition, and now I learn that I didn't install a driver! Good to know!!

Thanks again, Lisa!!

It will be ideal for each teacher to have a set of Activclassroom equipment. But most of the time, we share the equipment.

I guess the closest will be using a Activtablet to resolve the issue. On another hand, it look stupid for any teacher who own a tablet PC to get another external tablet to get the Fraction Creator to work.

I hear from someone that SMART software do not need to identify any SMART hardware, in order to use hand writing recognition, unlike Activboard.
