I was told by a colleague that Brainpop questions work automatically with Activotes and results/answers can be seen in the flipchart. Is this true? I will try it out with my students tomorrow and see, but someone can reply if they know.

I'm not sure about all that. I know that you can basically use Activote over any application including web-based stuff. Just click on the Activote icon and the students can vote.

Maybe someone can address how to store results.

But I did want to mention that if you go to the search page for flipcharts and search for the keyword Brainpop, you can find tons of flipcharts that incorporate Brainpop in a variety of ways.

I use BrainPop/BrainPopJr. in the computer lab almost daily. The students do use the votes, but not in the way you are suggesting.
We read the question or listen to it being read to us, then the students vote after I select the activote icon on the toolbar (without the flipchart page being displayed). The results will be graphed after all students make their selection. Whichever letter was answered most is the one selected on the BrainPop Quiz. If it's right, the kids always cheer. And if it's wrong, we discuss the question and answer for the needed clarification.

You can also paste the results to the minimized flipchart page for review.

Activotes and BrainPop work very well together!

Thanks for responding so quickly, guys. I have some flipcharts I created with links to brainpopjr and I will test it out one of those tomorrow and reply on the forum to let you know what happened.

I tried the ad hoc version of ACTIVotes with brainpopjr today. I understand what Donna was saying. Even though I was on the brainpop site, I could select the start vote icon and students voted in their answers. After each question, we flipped back to the flipchart and looked at how many students chose an answer. It was great for discussion and letting students argue their point why an answer was chosen. At the end of the quiz video, we went back to the flipchart and looked at the overall summary of how we did. I was able to give feedback and make quick notes about which students need extra practice/reinforcement. This is an eye opener for me because I thought all ACTIVote activities had to be programmed with preselected answers; never really understood what the ad hoc was for. I encourage everyone with ACTIVotes to try using this mode. It's great for discussion and collaboration among the students. I am even working on quick assessments using the confidence templates to see how students feel about their ability to perform certain tasks or their understanding of certain skills. FYI, there are 3 great new Activtip videos that just posted on Promethean Planet that are ALL about ideas on how to use Brainpop in an Activclassroom.

Brainpop Resource Pack
Brainpop and the Camera Tool
Brainpop and Activotes
Scott did a great job with these videos and I think you will really love seeing how Brainpop and the Activclassroom work so well together!

There is a new section on the US planet under resources called "Partner Resources" and Brainpop is featured!!!

There is a LOT of good stuff in there including a video of a teacher discussing how she uses it with the Activotes!

Check it out!

I've been experimenting with the new "saving of ad-hoc results" feature in Activstudio 3.6. When I use Brain Pop (or any other quiz over the Internet), if I show the Activote results on the desktop and click the new Save button that appears, I can't find where the results are saved. If I immediately go to flipchart->export->Activote results, then it only retains and displays the results from the most recently answered question. So, I tried keeping a flipchart open and clicking Save at the bottom of the Activote results window, but I have to advance to a new flipchart page in between each question in order to retain the results for every question instead of just the last question answered. I hope this makes sense. Am I doing something wrong? When I read about the new feature, I thought that I could have my students vote on the entire Brain Pop quiz while staying in desktop mode and then their answers would all be saved somewhere. I could have read too much into it, though.

I appreciate your help! :)

Not sure but this may help...

studio settings/activote/results to new flipchart page - check this option

Doing your vote with a flipchart open but hidden so you are looking at the desktop (or website etc etc)
Do your votes
The hidden flipchart will have a new page for each answer with the each set of results on a different page so you don't lose any.

Hope this helps

Thank you, Louise! That worked perfectly in Activprimary. In Activstudio, I had to use a desktop flipchart instead of a "hidden" regular flipchart. Having this work easily will really extend the ways we can use the Activotes!

Have a great day,
