If you do not already know how to create a simple container...I have attached a flipchart explaining how for Mac users.

Nice one. Thank you. And it works perfectly on a PC too!

Well done! I like your example. You have described the process very clearly so that others can create examples as well.

Thanks for sharing.

I don't have a Mac, and it wouldn't open for me. Are there any flip charts for PC's . I really need help with containers.

Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,

The flipchart should still open on a PC. When you downloaded it, is it still named Containers.flp? Also, make sure you save it to your desktop or somewhere and then try to open it. Let us know if that works for you!

Hi Linda - If you need help with containers, be sure to visit the Activtips on Promethean Planet. There is a video example of how to do a container here.
You can find the Activtips at:
Promethean Planet > Professional Development > Activtips
or, here is a direct link:
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/nav.1252

And, as Char stated, any flipchart can be openend in either MAC or PC platform because it is the same file extension (.flp).

Enjoy!

I downloaded the containers flipchart and the only thing I got was one page with the containers but no instructions. Did I do anything wrong?

Nancy,

The author of the flipchart placed VERY detailed directions for creating containers in the page notes on the page.

If you need help accessing those, please let me know!

Hi Ben, thank you for your reply. There are no page notes in the flipchart I down loaded as I said before all a got was one page with the containers, but no instructions at all. I did download the flipchart twice and both times I got the same thing.

I would really like to get the detailed instructions.

Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

I found the instructions in page notes too. It's the tiny icon at the bottom of the flipchart that looks like a page with the corner turned up (or the icon in the toolstrip that looks like a yellow post-it note with a tack).

I'll paste them here for you too.

Containers:
First, select images and text that you want to be containers and the contained.

Next, the objects that are going to be the containers need the following adjusted in their properties:
Select Container: Can contain 'specific object', Contain rule 'enclose object', Contain Object: select the correct object from a drop down list. You may choose to reward a sound a well.

The objects that are going to be contained need the following adjusted in their properties:
Select Container: check 'Return if not contained'.

Finally, you may need to bring the objects that are going to be contained to the front by right clicking on each one, going to edit, and selecting 'to front' (This may be due to layering issues for your container objects). If all else fails, look at the properties of each object on this flip chart!

This document may help as well. I use it with my trainings for ACTIVstudio 3 for the mac.

Have a great day!

Thanks for this but now I have another question. How to set a container so that you can allow more than one object in it? I can only get mine to take one object and I would like to have it accept all the pictures that start with A that are on my page.

You have to give the "A" words a key word that is the same like "a." (Through object properties, identification.)

Then you have to set the container to contain items with the keyword "a" etc.

Change "can contain" from specific object to keyword (and fill in the keyword in the box). You will need to set the keyword on all the objects that you would like to be contained. I'm pretty sure there is an Activtip on this one.
