Hey Everybody... does anybody know if there are any plans for creating Automator Actions for ACTVstudio? I have tried making my own with the record feature... but something keeps making it quit. Any ideas would be great... thanks in advance. Josh

Automator Actions are a bit like AppleScript. There's an application included with Mac OS X called Automator where you can create them.

I know you can use AppleScript within Activstudio to execute an action.

What is it you are trying to do Joshua?

Is Automator Actions like the pre-set animations in PPT? If so, I guess my quesiton to you would be, why do you want your actions to be pre-set?
Why not use Activstudio and have the students come up to the board (Or use the slate) and click those action objects.

If they are pre-set and all you have to do it click once, and the page does many actions, isn't that taking away from student interaction?

Automator is more for taking care of the mundane tasks such as converting files, fetching mail, saving files repetitively, etc and as yet I don't think Activstudio is supported here.

Applescript on the other hand is supported in Activstudio and you can write scripts to add functionality to your flipcharts.

I was talking about using automator actions in creating the flipcharts... such as creating an object and the settings for it at the push of a button...

In that case then no I don't think that's possible using Automator.

What I think you're looking for is something like an Object Style Palette similar to the one in InDesign where you set certain attributes to a style then apply the styles to the object at the press of a button.

I can see how this would save time if you are applying the same attributes to many objects repetitively.

Maybe worth requesting this feature for a future release of the software!
