Has anyone had any experience of this, we have installed the software locally on each machine connected but want to install over the network, what experiences have people had, I would be interested in any complications that might make us to decide to keep the software installed locally.
Thanks
Paddy

I have installed this over our network.

one thing i noticed is when a user runs the program for the 1st time it hangs on load, a rectangle in the top left of the screen is shown.
I logged on as Systemadmin ran the software fine, this then allows the user ( in this case a teacher) to run as2 properly.

I now get another error when a student proifile attempts to run the software.
something along the lines of
"A problem has been encountered reading admin.ini setting .3"
i have a feeling this is to do with the location of the shared resources, is students do not have acces to that shared drive.

i have also not tried the driver,
Q. is the msi driver designed for the USB version only? or will it work fine with the Serial connection boards?

There is an MSI available for CC3. Activstudio 2 and Activprimary. This is available at £20 please call 01254 291753 for more information. It is a standard MSI that will install on any win xp machine.

msi - windows installer, otherwise known as Microsoft Installer (hence msi!) A standalone installation file, in other words...

I have created a new MSI file that I can email you it is only small. The reason this is happening is 'C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents\ACTIV Software\ACTIVStudio 2' is the usual store folder for the shared resources. For some reason the program still references this at startup. If it is not created when the MSI is installed and a restricted user does not have access to create it the user is presented with the error message.

Hello,

We have a different, but related situation. Is it possible to try the different MSI?

We are running Windows XP and the computers go through looping reboots until we go into Safe Mode and log on as Administrators. The computers are in classrooms, so have fairly tight security, which would explain why the 'common' user could not update the All Users folder.

Thanks.
