This question is about activote and I hope it is relevant to this forum.

The question is, can you register "oldie" voters and "newie" voters on the same computer?

Personally, I don't think you can.

I have completely uninstalled Activstudio 1 together with drivers. I also uninstalled PE 2 and Developer. Then, I installed driver and PE2 and then connected to a newish board. I invoked the registration software and the "old" type registration programme appeared. Try as I may, I could not get the "new" voter application to start. I have tried turning the board off and back on again to reset it, uninstalling the software again and reinstalling and I still can't get anywhere. Also, in the old system, when you registered the voters, you created a "Activote.dev" file. Can you tell me what the equivalent file is with new voters because I can't seem to trace one.

Sorry to burden you with this one, as that animal, Eric said.

This is brave of me to venture here.... I don't do the techie bits.... :D

BUT

couple of things

Do you have a pod fitted to your newish board, it is a receiver which fits into the top of your electronics on the board.

How old is your newish board - it could be that the electronics need updating.

It is possibly a question for technical support. She says covering herself smile.gif

Just thought I would answer the bits that may be relevant!

There are other bits in your post which I can't answer though

Margaret,

Many thanks. NO! We don't have a pod. In fact, when the fitters came to fit our most recent board, he asked where the pod was. We even have a board fitted about 1 month ago and new activoters were ordered and delivered with the board, but no pod. The fitter told me that he had never fitted any boards without pods before. Should our new boards have pods? If so, we need podding, rapidly. I've spent hours on this. I'll get in touch with technical dept tomorrow. Could explain a lot, this. Thanks Margaret.

Hi Peter

Technical support will have you up and running in no time - they are always the best people to contact regarding anything not working.

Let us know how you get on and thanks for your comments on the forum, please keep in touch. smile.gif

Hi Peter,

I'm sure tech support have sorted you out by now, but in case anyone is interested, you can use old and new voting on the same computer but you cannot mix and match within a session. The pod is required for voting 2 but must be unplugged to use voting 1.

Also, if you have a new proACTIV board you cannot use voting 1, and you do not need a pod for voting 2 as it is built in.
