Active Primary Files saving as ActiveStudio FIles

I have a teacher who is creating flipcharts on her Macbook using ActivPrimary. She is saving them correctly to the desktop and/or a folder in her doc folder. ActivPrimary seems to save them as ActivStudio files. She has both activStudio 3.0 and ActivPrimary 3.0 on her machine. We can change the files to activprimary by using the get info command, but I am wondering why they default to activstudio?

Hi barrr,

Activstudio files and Activprimary files are actually the same thing. They both have the file extension ".flp". If you have both programs installed on your computer, this can cause confusion because one of the programs has to be the default.

To change the default, select command i in the finder. Explore the options here.

Note however, you can only associate ".flp" with one or the other program, so if you change the default you'll have the same problem but with Activprimary instead of Activstudio.

Thanks for your reply. I did change the files in the get info window. I suspected they both shared some resources, since I cannot open activPrimary while ActivStudio is running. This clarified it.
