Hi
I'm in a total panic. I spent all day Sunday creating our team's weekly reading flipchart. (about 25 pages). So, I learned in the past that it is best to save regularly. (sometimes I get a run time error?? that locks up and looses anything not saved) So...I began creating and after each page, went under flipchart and then save. At the end of it all, I went to close out and email my coworkers the flipchart. I have also made a habit of always reopening the flipchart to make sure I have attached the right one. Well, when I did this, the only thing that was there was an opening page which I had duplicated for the 5 days. None of the other saved pages were there. I have no clue what happened to them. Now I'm pretty tech savvy and am at a complete loss for what the problem could be. When I closed down, it did give the message box about wanting to know if I wanted to save changes. I said no because I had been saving all along.

Any clues? Did I really loose all this work? Any advice? I really did save after every page, so where are all my saved pages?

Thank you in advance for any advice or suggestions on "finding" my flipchart. I was in tears just thinking about doing it all over again.

Sincerely,
Candy D.

Candy, you might check to see if you can open it back from activstudio and then try to re save it, maybe to the desk top. I am guessing that you are still in version 2.5. When you lost from the runtime error, did it ask to recover? If so you would have to re save, it just recovers it as a "flipchart" and not the file you saved it as. Hope that helps:)

Hi Heather,
Actually, I downloaded V3 on my home computer so that I can easily do work from home without unplugging a gazillion wires everyday.

I didn't get a run time error on this go, it was just the reason I have made a habit out of saving after every page I create.

In this case, I did nothing but make numerous pages, and save after each page. But now, I cannot locate the flipchart. It stinks because hours of work have been lost.

Have you tried a 'Search' on your computer for the filename you saved it under?

Yes. I guess it is hopeless. I just can't understand where all the "saves" went. If I went in after EVERY page, it must have been saved somewhere. ????

Candy, that's everyone's nightmare, isn't it? I really feel for you.

When I'm in Design mode, I find it easier to click on the Save icon on the flipchart toolstrip, rather than go through the Flipchart - Save routine you describe.

Before closing down a new flipchart, I find it reassuring to check on the Flipchart Organizer that all my work is there.

When you saved each page, did you get the 'removing unnecessary flipchart pages' message? I thought at first that this was a strange message, as usually I'm saving more new pages to a flipchart, but it is confirmation that the 'save' has taken place.

Yes, I have searched my hard drive, jump drive, etc. I'm new with V3, but did get the message each time I saved that it was removing unnecessary files, so I can't imagine where my saves went. It is very bizzarre and frustrating, but I guess that's the way it goes.

Thank you all for offering suggestions. I will try the save option in design mode. I just got used to V2, so I haven't taken advantage of the features...yet.

Thanks again.:)

Hi Canduff,
Its difficult to ascertain what has happened here, but if this has been due to a bug in the software it will have certainly been fixed by now. Use the dashboard to upgrade your software to the latest version by clicking on the Support tab and click - Check for Updates
