Hi all,+wave+
I've been recording some of the children's stories onto a flipchart today - but the sound files are huge! A 25 second clip is about 2MB. I'd like to share this flipchart with the parents (using a combo of Wikispaces and ActivStudio Student Edition) but the file size once all the children's voices are recorded will be huge. Is there any way of reducing the file size?
Cheers
Rosie

Why not just burn the stories to CD and add a copy of student edition?

Hi Wendy,
Yes, windows sound files are huge. My advice would be to convert your sound files .wavs to .mp3 using a free converter. I did a search on Google "free wav to mp3" and came up with several options.
e.g http://www.download.com/WAV-to-MP3-Encoder/3000-2140_4-10384935.html

I found this site: http://www.nchsoftware.com/index.html and downloaded Switch for free. It converted a 50 MB windows sound file to 4.59 MB mp3. Great stuff.

Thanks everyone for your responses - so speedy! I probably will put these on a CD, but don't really want to do that every time. Reducing the sound files - a bit fiddly is my own whinge (sorry, it is a good idea!) It would be great if the program could reduce the sizes a bit - like the image files on AS3 being much smaller than the orginal photos. That's my feature request for the future! Thanks all for your help :)
