I need all your help! I've just been given a form where I can bid for up to £3000 extra funding for ICT. It has to either demonstrate innovative use of ICT, or be a project that will have a significant impact on the development and use of ICT...and the deadline for submission is this Friday. Help!

I have no idea when the new stuff (activarena & activ expression) is coming out, but I would really love to put a bid in for them, so that I don't have to wait a year to get them! But if anyone else can think of something that I can use the money on, I'm very open to suggestions! We've got an IWB in every class, several slates, tablets, a couple of voting systems.

I have to explain on the form what the project is, what sort of activities would be undertaken and what the expected outcomes would be. Any ideas would be very, very welcome! Does anyone know more about activarena or avtivexpression? Anything I can use to help? ????

Thank you! +wave+

Hello Alison.

There is some information on Activexpression and Activarena on the corporate website: http://www.prometheanworld.com/uk/server/show/nav.4322

At the minute, this is all that has been released. The only other suggestion might be to get in touch with the TLA in your area to discuss any other requirements. Hope this helps??!

Collaborative learning has been proven to increase children’s engagement. Offering children the opportunity to use two pens simultaneously opens up a whole new world of interaction. Not only can the children work together on a problem, they can also respond immediately without having to take turns or impact on their partners’ interaction.
Very young children often work along side each other, needing to feel accompanied in their activity but still needing to feel in control of their own actions. Collaboration is something which children need to explore to enable them to develop their social skills and appreciate the value of a friend’s opinion.
Using more than one pen at the same time, means that spur-of-the-moment opportunities present themselves allowing for adult intervention when required to ensure that the opportunity is maximised. Encouraging this type of activity can be planned for or can be part of independent activity where children can access the board throughout the school day.

Does that help? +wave+

Genius! :D Thanks Liam & Margaret! [clap] I'll be using both of your advice, and I'll be sure to let you know how I get on.

Any more ideas from anyone else??

Not sure I can compete with the above (Margaret especially[clap])

But here's an extract from an article I wrote recently:

Watching young children (aged 3-6) engaged in imaginative play together gives us an insight into that rich seam, as they talk, listen, share and negotiate. Collaborative activities encourage children to:
§Have constructive interactions with others.
§Develop speaking and listening skills.
§Broaden their vocabulary.
§Be active, enquiring learners.
§Develop thinking skills.
§Solve problems.
Collaborative activities can also be a powerful means of integration for those children with limited language and literacy skills, such as those with ESL/EAL."

Ok, it's geared to collaboration generally rather than specific to ACTIVarena/expression but may still be useful.
