I have been trying to put resources into the resource library, but have been unsuccessful at finding a coherent explanation, or any other type of help. I notice at Atomic Learning there is a session on it, but it is not one of the free sessions and I certainly don't want to pay $79 after just shelling out big bucks for the activboard, associated software, and a manual (sort of a manual). A few things that I have found seem to indicate that you can drag from the document window into a resource folder.
I have downloaded an image and put it onto a flipchart. I want this particular image in a resource folder so I can use it again. I have tried dragging it to the resource window that opens when you click on resource library, but the image just goes behind the resource window. I have tried opening the resource manager and it will not drag over to it. I have tried saving it, but the only option is to save as a flipchart, and exporting offers no solution either. This should not be that difficult. Am I missing something here or is it once again the idea that I have a Mac and most things are designed for the Windows Crowd.
So, can anyone point to me a document or manual or another rescource that will allow me to do this.
Also, how do most of the resource files get the AS2 suffix on them? These have got to be created somehow.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Perhaps you didn't have the correct resource library open at the time? If you want to save your image open the My Images or My Collections section of the resource library. The image will drop in either one. You will be prompted for a name and keywords (it becomes searchable). That's also when it automatically gets the AS2 suffix.

First, make sure you have the right resource library open. In this case, it should be either My Images, or Shared Images. Then select the image by clicking on it. Here's the important part: Now click on the "hand" handle at the top of the image, and drag it into the resource library with the hand. You should see a horizontal blue line in the library, which indicates that the library will accept it. You'll then be prompted for a name and key words.
Good luck!

Also be sure to drag the hand to the bottom part of the Resource Library with the other thumbnails and NOT to the folders above!

Oustanding! The handle was the part I was missing. When I drug with the hand it worked. I was just dragging the image as I would drag any image from one doc to another. Thanks a lot!

Speaking of resources, can I pack resources on my pc, and unpack them on a mac?

I hate to "beat a dead horse to death" but I am trying to make a set of Algebra Tiles for my math class. I opened up a clipart and drug a rectangle from the "shared shapes" folder. I needed it to be red, so resized it and colored it red. I then duplicated it several times to get the other shapes I needed in red and in white.
I then opened up the resource folder, created a subfolder and attempted to drag in one of the tiles by using the handle of the object (I learned that from an earlier reply!). However, the object would not transfer to the folder. So.......
I copied the object and then pasted it back onto the page from the clipboard and low and behold... I was able to drag it to the resource folder.
So, the question is "why couldn't I drag the object intially from the page and what does placing it on the clipboard do to the oject to make it draggable? Is the object not an image when it is initially drug from the shared shapes folder and therefore not draggable?"
Is there another way to do this without havng to copy and paste it?
Also, thanks for the Mac manual!!!!
Thanks,
Robert Barr

That's odd. Perhaps it is because it was a duplicate and not a copy? Perhaps a duplicate is a temporary object on a page until another action happens; for example a new page is created:confused:.

Robert!
Hey, can you share your Algebra tiles with me? I am trying to make some for a resource pack!

If you're trying to drag a shape into the resource library, you must put it into the Shared Shapes (or a sub-folder of Shared Shapes) or My Shapes (or a sub-folder of My Shapes). If you made the sub-folder in any other part of the library (except Shared Collections or My Collections) it won't go in. You can put anything into the Collections folders.
I hope this helps!

I'd be happy to. Can you tell me how to put them into a form that I can send to you? I am using a Mac so any compression device I use will probably not work for a windows machine unless I use ZIPIT.
There are 6 as2 "files" in a folder called algebra tiles.
Any suggestions?

I figured out how to make a resource package (I think) and attach it to a message (I hope). As you can see this is my resource file for algebra tiles.

Thanks!
Got 'em. I'll take a look at them this week. I have some that I was creating so I'll send them to you later this week so you can see if you think they will work!
