I downloaded a video from United Streaming and linked it to one of my flipcharts. The computer uses Windows Media to open the file. When the video is being shown - it's really small and not the full size of the screen -even if I adust the video place holder - it still remains small. How can I link or save a video so that it will use the whole screen when viewing?

What happens when you open the file directly (not by linking from Activstudio)? Does it perform differently? Does the Windows Media Player allow for full-screen?

Kevin,
When downloading from UnitedStreaming, download your videos in Quicktime. Then place the video placeholder to cover the whole flipchart page and it will open. For some reason, Windows Media Player doesn't seem to open or open properly in a flipchart page.

Thank you both for helping. Yes, when I show a video clip from my docs - I can make it show full screen which is nice. But when placed on a flip chart it doesn't.
Heather,
What program do you suggest using instead of Windows Media? Is there something better? Or a program that will allow me to show a video on the full screen?

If you 'embed' a movie in a flipchart page -Using right click > Insert > Video Placeholder it will appear the size you set it... That way you could have a small video playing in a window of some clipart building for example.
Embedded videos can be annotated over. NOTE: You cannot embed WMV files -0 only MPEG, MOV, and most AVI. WMV will open in Windows Media Player.
If you link to a video (Right click Add Video Link) then when the link is clicked it should open in a window or application that can be maximised to fit full screen.

Did you ever get the full screen to work with downloaded and inserted Streamline videos? I can get the placeholder window to be full size using the handles as suggested, but the video itself is still very small? Would love to solve this problem if anyone has any ideas . . .
Thanks,
Michel

Can you provide an example of a "streamline" video?

It must be something to do with the Streamline video. I can enlarge the Placeholder and the video enlarges to the same size. Sorry I'm not being very helful.

Numerous messages and emails later, here is the best answer to the enlarging video question so far (thanks to Saha). If you go to General Program Settings > Linked File Hosting > and uncheck the Video box, the inserted video link plays in Windows Media Player at its full size instead of at a reduced size in Activstudio.
Thanks to all who contributed. Problem solved (at least for now). [clap]

Hi Mark,
Streamline video from what I understand is the .asf format video. This is the format when video files are saved from "United Streaming" site. Windows Media Player plays .asf files by default with no problems.

MIchel and I have been banging our heads together (metaphorically of course:D). The only way the .asf clips play properly from Activstudio is to uncheck the video box in Linked File Hosting so that it plays in a separate Windows Media window.

Perhaps you guys can bang heads again to help me out with a video issue that I keep having. When I download a video from United Streaming and insert it as a placeholder, I have been getting a delay between the words and the person speaking. When I link to the video and open it in another window, I don't have that problem. I attached a flipchart page to show you what I mean. This doesn't happen to all videos, but I'd say at least half. ????

You're having the same issue we had, for which the only solution is to uncheck the video box in Linked File Hosting in Settings so that it plays ina Windows Media File window outside the flipchart..
Mark Robinson found this:
http://www.fxmpegwriter.com/converting_asf_files.htm
“ASF files are notoriously twitchy. They often have index issues and can generate peculiar problems. To solve ASF problems in one swoop, use Microsoft's free Windows Media Encoder to convert your ASF files to WMV. During the encoding session, Windows Media Encoder will re-index and correct all the issue in the ASF file.”
However converting can take a while and will create a much larger video file.

Thanks David! I may try the converter. :)
