Has anyone had a problem where activprimary seems to override activprofessional? When the school district tech department imaged my laptop, they put activprimary on it. Since I took the class and did a flipchart in activprofessional, I took it back to them and they put on activprofessional. However, when I transfer new flipcharts from my home computer (where I only have activprofessional) to my laptop, it tries to open them in activprimary! Is there any way to translate a flipchart from activprimary to activprofessional? Gail:eek:

Can you change which program is assigned to open that file type? I normally play around with right clicking on the file icon. Not sure if that will help though...

As I understand it, your laptop tries to open with the application most recently installed. Doesn't sound like it's trying very hard for you though. To fix this on a mac, I would right click on any flipchart icon, go to "get info", and then set the "Open with" default to AS3. I think that even your ActivPrimary flps will open in AS3 then.

There is also a setting/option introduced in V3 to "restore file associations"

To do this go to Activstudio>Menu>Studio Settings>General and click the button on the bottom right hand side.

I usually go to Windows Explorer-tools-folder options-file types. Then I navigate to .flp . Click on Opens with and navigate to the .exe file for AS3X(whatever version you are using). My file is as3.5PE.exe.

I hope this helps.

I navigate to any flipchart file on a PC. Then I right click > Open with > Browse> C: Program files>Activ software> Select ActivStudio or ActivPrimary(your choice) > click on the .exe file for the program> and make sure I check: Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

Interesting! When I follow this pathway I see TWO AS .exe files
AS3.5PE.exe and AS3.5PEd.exe
QUESTION does it matter which one of these is selected?
Thanx
Hilary

Yes it does!
Don't pick the "D" version it is there in case technical support is required and is there to debug.

Thanks for the warning Pete.
The other methods are MUCH easier anyway.
