Hi,

I'm trying to put together a resource pack of pages/background that can be used for Classroom management.

General ideas I was thinking of would be:
Discipline pages (like red, yellow, green light)
Reward pages (checkmarks or tickets, or points) next to student names
Seating assignments (desks and faces to re-position)
Attendance page (who's here today)
Time management pages (countdown to dismissal, class is started...)The idea is that (for Studio), you could have this page or flipchart open at the same time as the lesson and toggle to it quickly when you need it.

I would love it if anyone could post their ideas or sample pages!

Thanks,

Lisa

I don't know if this is what you are loking for LIsa but this is my seating plans for school next year the tables move as the kids do - page one is for projection on the whiteboard - page 2 is for me to print off with the seating the other way around so its right for me facing them.
Hope it helps.

Hi Lisa,

At the IWBnet Conference being held next weekend I am presenting a 2hr presentation on Using and IWB to support behaviour mangement. I am still putting together the flipcharts and notes, but after the presentation I will put up a copy.

Cheers

I look forward to seeing that too Peter!
Lisa, I have attached somedifferent registers I have used, some are plain, one involves voting and one has a weather chart included. They are mixtures of various flips I have downloaded or made.
There is also a flash attachment where the children can choose their own icon (which I think is Dan's). The star register I 'm sure you have as I think it was mentioned on the forum recently!

Is this combination of management tools going to be posted on the Planet in the future?

Hi all,

I made my presentation file last night and it is 150 MB at the moment. (I use a lot of multimedia). I am thinking that I will have to split it up and send it in parts. Does anyone know if the Forum has a file size limit?

I will do this in early next week as I am presenting it this Friday.

Cheers

Peter

I am trying to download a resource pack and it goes to thumbnail 16 out of 19, stops, and the media player icon comes over it. Any help for me. MJ

Hi Caryn,

I would just like to give a big clap for the resources, particularly the School Register Voting Flipchart. Very Impressive.[clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]

Here is one that I picked up from a teacher in Missouri.
She keeps it up during the day, and if a student gets in trouble, she moves their name to the color code for their punishment.

Also, while we are on this topic, I talked with Andy, and "Classroom Management" is now one of the subject matter options when submitting a flipchart to Planet. So we can being to submit all these flipcharts to the resources! [clap][clap][clap]

That is a great idea and would be SOOOO useful if you could have more than one flip open at a time in AP (hint hint;))

Caryn,
I love your random name generator in the chart, draughts register. Is there a way I can change the class list names so i may use it in my class? Could I use it for several periods?

The random name generator is not mine. Dan Bunker made it and posted it on the Planet. I have just added it to many of my flipcharts It is quite easy to change the names and you will find all the info you need on this thread.
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/common/html/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=1596&highlight=random+names
It also includes lots of other really great ideas so might take a bit of time to investigate.
To use it with different classes you just have to save it with different names.
I have also attached the "original"

Hello All,

The file actually grew in size before I presented the session (finished at 170MB) and breaking it into section is probably not that practical. Instead I will post the supporting training notes. However these notes were written a little while ago so they do not contain any mention of how voting systems can be used to support the learning environment.

Cheers

Here is a random name cup that I made so I could call on students. You would just have to change the children's names to your students. I created it so the student's nor I could see which name I was pulling out. When I am finished I just hit reset page, and all of the names go back inside the cup. Every couple of weeks I pick a student to re-arrange the names in the cup and save it as a new file. This way the kids can't remember whose name is where, and it truly does stay random.

This is a behavior management flip chart that I made to use in my classroom. It is very effective. All students are on green to begin with, then after I have given a student a warning about a certain misbehavior, but they continue, I move their name to yellow, etc....
I can then print it out (with that student's name on it) and send it home for the parent(s) to view and sign. I also hang one up in the classroom at the end of the day to keep track of behavior for the week after it's printed.

Thank you all for your great ideas!!! {}

I haven't forgotten about this, but have been at work putting all these ideas together.

I have about 9 completed but I wanted to share with you one of them to see what you think.

Here's what I have so far:

1 Classroom sound monitor (traffic light)
1 Student Discipline page
3 "Whose Turn is it" pages
1 Student participation page
1 Classroom Helpers Assignment chart
1 "Rewards" Chart
1 Scoring Rubric for making a poster/project
I'll just attach one of the Whose Turn is it pages. It was obviously inspired by one of you great "sharers" on the Planet!

Your ideas are welcome. More, more....!!!

Thanks guys!

If anyone would like to volunteer to "review" this one I just made. It includes one of the great countdown flash timers I found on the forum.

It is for timing a test. I think it will be useful.

As I am developing on Mac, I would love to hear if there are any issues with this on the PC before continuing on and making more.

Lisa,
I love the timer! A question, though, how do I get it to work in the AS environment on the mac? I can unzip the flp and play the flash directly but then I lose the cool background. Somewhere on the forum I got the idea that you can't use flash files in a flp that require an xml to operate though it works just fine on a pc. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

LisaD

Hmmm. So you are saying that this page is not showing up correctly on the Mac? That's strange since I created it on the Mac!

If there are any other Mac users out there, can you see if it is working for YOU?

If not, I'll have to see if I didn't embed properly or something. It is my intention that these will work identically on both platforms.

I don't think that this particular flash file calls any external xml.

Anyone have any ideas of what is happening here?

Problem solved! The "time for test" text block was covering up the controls of the timer. Once I moved it I could operate the three color timer which is quite cool!

In a bit of a mystery, though, your unzipped flp has a file called "imsmanifest.xml". Are xml files that accompany a swf always critical to running the swf or only sometimes? (I know nothing about flash files so if this is an off-the-wall question, please forgive.)

In a thread a while back on Dan's random name generators, Saha explained that macs couldn't run a swf in flps that needed an xml file. (That last sentence had more jargon than I used when I was a teenager. Does this mean I'm cool finally?)

Hi Lisa --

Thanks for the timer - it's great! I also found that it works fine when the text box is moved out of the way.

Thanks, guys,

I will "shorten" the text field so that we I publish the final version, it is not over the flash file!

This timer is great!

I'm going to use it for an Activtip. I will direct people to view this thread to get the flash file.

Great work! [clap][clap]

Thanks, Scott,

I should have the entire Classroom Management Resource Pack done soon, so you may want to point them there instead as it will have all of them! I've found many examples.

Lisa,

I wasn't sure if you were going to include the timer in your Resource Pack or not. I will wait until you have the Resource Pack up, then I will direct them to that. Good idea.

But I will probably still mention that I orginally found it in the Forum. I love to spread the word about the Forum and all the great things you can learn in here!

LisaD

Great idea, Scott, Most of the ideas you will see in the this Resource Pack originated from the forum![clap]

Lisa

I didn't create the cup idea, but I thought the reason the rectangles were showing was so you could know where the names were but not be able to see which name it was.

That could be a problem once you've started pulling out names and cannot find the last ones.

caryn

This is not my idea or my work but comes from the genius that is Dan Bunker
Here is the original file
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/common/html/vb_forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=607&d=1139964907
You need to unzip to get the 2 files you need. They need to be kept in the same folder or both put ont hye same page for it to work. To change your names use wordpad(or similar) and resave. There was quite a discussion about this in a thresd entitled "Developer Ideas" so if you have any problems search for this thread.
Good luck.
I do use it alot for all sorts of activities and find it really useful.[clap]

Ok, I'm just about ready to create this resource pack! Sorry for the delay. Was fiddling with one last page.

If anyone wants to test this one out. It is another way to "call" on a student using a spinner.

You can "grab" the curly arrow and "spin" the wheel with it (at least in the Mac version).
