Hello people.
Next month marks the first birthday of the Planet. Yes, it's hard to believe that in just twelve months we have over 65,000 members!
We are planning some exciting celebrations and some online competitions, but we were also wondering what your suggestions were for what we can do online to celebrate?
We would be really interested to hear your comments for a virtual P-A-R-T-Y ...PARTY [clap]

I think we definitely need to have some celebratory resources to download!! I look forward to the big celebration.

As well as those celebratory resources, how about after log in, a short video clip or flash plays showing balloons popping and streamers swirling with Happy Birthday playing in the background?

New backgrounds... I LOVE getting the new backgrounds. The ones I recently downloaded a couple weeks ago were labeled "fun backgrounds." They are great, but being greedy, I want more. :D
Also, what if some people who play important roles in the success of Promethean Planet put on a Party hat and posted their pictures! I'd love to see the faces behind the people... Simon? Margaret? Hmm...

I really like the party hat idea!
It would be nice if we could coordinate some of these celebrations with our next US User Group meeting. Like we did with the 10,000 person to sign up for Planet, down in Houston.
Tai-ann, welcome to the 100 post club!!

I think we need to have a party hat with a big planet on it. And how fun to celebrate at the user group conference. Everyone loves a party!!![clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]

I think we need to have a party hat with a big planet on it.
OR a Planet with a big party hat on...
Hilary :D
How about an updated lanyard OR a special Promethean pen OR a Promethean cotton carry-bag "Be Kind to the Planet - from Promethean Planet" sort of thing (that would be easy to post to New Zealand...) for people who have contributed significantly to the life of the Forum by their postings?

I "third" the limited edition lanyard thing - for all flipchart submissions during the month? And maybe each name gets thrown in a hat for some BIG prize - like Activotes, maybe????

Happy birthday to the planet! 70,000 members, wow! What about resources? How many flipcharts are there, I did a search leaving all areas blank and came up to a whopping 1690. Is this the total number, its a lot fo free stuff for us all.

Yes, that's amazing. And so many of the flipcharts are absolutely stunning!
I did a search on the US Planet and come up with over 3000 flipchart lessons.
That's almost 5,000 worldwide!
Plus thousands of more resources in the Resource Packs!

Excellent, so are the 1700 odd files on the UK site totally unrepeated to the 3000 files on the US site then? and vice versa?
woah thats confusing!
What I mean is are there like 5000 totally different flip charts or are there repeats on each site?

There could be some repeats if the submitter submitted to BOTH sites, but in general I think US folks submit to the US site and vice versa.
So, my advice is: If you don't find what you want on one site, you can always search on the other one!
You would need to search by keyword though as the UK flipcharts are not correlated to US standards.
Just be aware that there will be spelling differencess and some other terminology differences!
I would however, download the Resource Packs from the appropriate site as they have been made to install and "fit" into the resource library structure for that particular country's resource library.

Go to the landing page of the forum and scroll down to the bottom and you will see the number of members. Last weekend we were only approaching 80,000..... what a busy week![clap][clap][clap]

ah I see, I couldnt imagine many people uploading to both. I tried uploading a file the other day for the first time to see if it was tricky or not and it was really easy, however my file was just one page of scribble cos I was on my other computer and didnt have any decent flps to hand. If I want to upload one of my flps how does it work with using images? Can I just upload it as is with the images I've used from the web and that?

It is highly probable that images from the web (and that) are likely to be copyright. You would be well to use creative commons or wikimedia images or of course anything from our expanding library of resources. If you read the terms of agreement, it states that you are responsible for copyright clearance. Note: That you are not automatically cleared even if it is for educational or non-profit use.
