flipchart problems

When I was working on a flipchart, I could view all of my pages in the page organizer. But when I clicked on the last two, the images and words would disappear and it would come up as a blank page. This happened ONLY to the last two pages in a six page flipchart that I was constructing. Once the pages came up as blank, they stayed blank and were lost. I had to recreate them. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

You could try attaching a copy of the original flipchart if you still have it and then someone could see if they can replicate your problem and possibly work out what happened?

Is it still happening after you recreated them?

Hello, scoopersc, and welcome to the forum. Can you also let us know what version of Activstudio you're using?

To find out the version number... click the promethean man / main menu button, go to help and then choose 'about activstudio'.

Your problem could be due to a bug in an earlier version of the software, something similiar used to happen to me every now and again.

This page disappearing thing has happened to me in page organizer on v3 on the Mac too. I posted in another thread when this happened. Now I save before I go to page organizer!!

I had a huge problem with my flipchart builder. I edited/changed pages and was sure to save each time. However, pages would show up in the page preview, but other pages I hadn't saved would show up on the actual flipcharts. I could click on them in the preview and another page would show up. Saved pages were often hidden. It took me a long time to figure out what was happening and I am perplexed on what is going on. Any other problems with flipchart builder saving/editing???

This also happened to a teacher at my school. I've attached the flipchart so you could see what has happened. It was created with the 3.0 version. Any ideas would be great so we can make sure it doesn't happen again

Did anyone ever find out what was happening to this flipcahrts which show blank apges? I have just found this thread today and it describes pretty much what is happening to one of our flipcharts.

In this case the first page is blank in page organiser view as well. And none of the pages display in normal view.

If I delete the gfirst page then the new first page becomes blank too.

Hi Tessa,

This hadn't happened to me in quite awhile until 2 days ago and then it happened again. For me, it's very sporadic. What I do for now is not go to page organizer until the very end of creating the flipchart. then I save a copy of the flipchart so I have 2 good working copies. Then I go to page organizer in one copy. If it acts up, I have the other copy to fall back on. I leave more hair on my head that way! ;)

I would advise to update to 3.6, a lot of fixes have been put in place since 3.0 but I don't immediately recall a problem with the last couple of pages being removed.

Might be worth your IT guys putting an antivirus exlude on c:\documents and settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp\Activstudio3\

Just in case any antivirus you might have is being a bit brutal and removing some of the files.

A teacher that I am working with has the same problem with flipchart pages being visible in Page Organiser but appearing blank in full view. She ALSO has another weird problem which may or may not be connected. Could it be a problem with her laptop which is, incidentally very slow? I haven't checked how much space she has on it. The other weird problem is that when she opens a flipchart some of the text appears in Wingdings even though it was created in another font. When we go to edit it ,the Text Edit Toolbox shows no font name. It can be edited back to the font that it was created in. It doesn't happen on all pages in the same flipchart. Any ideas? Could both these problems be connected?

I think I can answer the Windings bit. The flipchart was created with a font (probably on another machine) that isn't available on this machine. Font substitution takes place and Windings appears!
Remember to create flipcharts that you propose to share with fonts that are available on all machines. These are known as system fonts and are shipped and installed with the operating system.
