right click object menu add properties

When you right click on an text box object you get choices like Edit, Paste, Deconstruct word. , etc.

If possible, it would be great to have access to object Properties from that right-click menu, too, as a quick alternative to the three step double click> Object Edit>Properties menu.

I second that idea. sometimes AS just ends up as a toolbar fest. It sometimes confuses the hell out of people who struggle with computers.
