Before using my ACTIVboard I have always used the card behavior system, or pull a stick etc... where as the children all start on green and then pull a card to yellow, then red, etc. I made this flipchart so I could do away with the cards and use the ACTIVboard instead. To suit it to your plan you may need to change the color purple, or delete some colors if you don't have as many steps. To change the names you will need to ungroup them, highlight the text and change the names to your students and then resave. The students are all on green and their name will be moved to the colors above according to their behavior.

Hello, Kelly. Fine work on this. If you don't mind my asking, how do you use it with another lesson in progress? Do you hide the lesson flipchart when you need to bring up this one? Or do you have the windows tiled?

I just hide the current flipchart I am working on and bring up this one. There is a slight interuption anyway if a student is asked to pull their card (or if I pull it for them) so it only takes a minute and is just as effective. I also take a picture of the red or yellow section of the students name (making sure not to include any others) and can print it to send home and have signed if need be. It is much quicker than writing a note, and my parents immediately know what it means. It also gives the parent's immediate feedback rather than waiting for a Friday report or behavior report at the end of the week (even though I give one at the end of each week also) if this makes sense.

:DKelly,

As always, GREAT WORK! [clap][clap][clap]

This is a great way to use the board for Behavior Management!

Were you able to try it last year, and if so, did you notice any change in the students behavior? Did it help stop problems, with it being so visual for all students?

Would you mind posting it on Planet? I know it is only one slide, but I am noticing that many more teachers are searching for managment type flips like this.

Again, good stuff! :D

Nice strategy!

A behaviour management strategy that I have found effective is a really simple one.

I often start my maths lessons with a flipchart page containing some warm-up questions. In the last few months, once the class has entered the room and is seated, I display the count-up clock on the page. The expectation is that every student will have started the warm-up before the count-up clock reaches one minute.

The use of the count-up clock has significantly reduced the number of student who needed a nudge to start the lesson quickly.

Of course, my "offer" to help teach the student during a lunch break how to start quickly helps as well :-).

Cheers
