I am using a high quality web cam (2MP) like a document camera (having got the DT dept at the Senior School to drill a hole in its base, and then connected it to a gooseneck mircophone stand). Total cost £75, and one interested Senior School

I notice on your forum that people have been asking for imaging support (scanner, visualiser etc) going back to 2005.

http://www.prometheanplanet.com/common/html/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=597&highlight=scanner

It really must come. :(

Smartboard Notebook does it in 5 clicks in the one program [clap]

Insert > Picture from Scanner
Choose Picture Source
Snap Image
Transfer Now
ExitThe whole process takes about 20 seconds in the one program, and is very easy to train teachers to do. It can be done in front of a group of pupils, in calss. AP3 does not seem to give any similar easy process, and all the work arounds are just that - awkward work arounds. Only the bravest would attempt in front of a group of impatient 8 year olds.

Please, please, please can we have twain support for scanners, web cams etc. ????

If you can get the scanned image on your screen and with Activprimary in Desktop mode, you should be able to use the Camera Tool to snapshot straight onto your page or into the Resource Library. the only time this won't work is if the document camera is connected directly to the projector rather than through the computer.

Thank you for your prompt, helpful reply,

however:

Your method is awkward, as it is not built in to promethean software
It is more time consuming in front of a class of children
It uses two programs.
Smartboard notebook is intelligent and adjusts to page width
Training teachers will be signicifcantly harder
Teachers will be less confident using in class.
Above all I wanted a techie answer as to when this might appear...

not a trainers work around ( Similar workarounds have been suggested before)....

This should probably appear in the Feature Requested section, but whereas there is one in the ActivStudio section of the forums, there isn't in the ActivPrimary.

Thanks again for your help, but I want a feature in the software, not a work around.

This is noted for review in a future release of the software.
