Is it possible to set the containers in this flipchart so that the wrong combinations can not be left together?????

Hi Caryn

Nice flipchart :), sadly it's not possible as the boat would need to accept the fox but not with the chicken and the rules cannot change during the activity once set. I seem to remember a flash activity we played with at the BETT Show which did exactly what you are trying to create and I think the fox actually ate the chicken if you got it wrong  ... I'll have a look around and try and find it, in the meantime I bet one of my colleagues will beat me to it and pop it up here. +wave+

Kindest regards

David

Just found a flash activity that is a similar puzzle...see attached

Also a link to a webpage with the same activity as you're trying to create...

Can you program a container to contain more than one object?

Hi,

Yes, a container can contain more than one thing if you set it to accept a key word or words. Then assign each object one of the key words in the Identification tab. Hope that helps.

Some of my reward sounds will not play when the object is contained in the correct place. Any advice?

It may be something as simple as your container is not quite big enough. I have found that the object to be contained needs to fit inside the container competely before the sounds will play. Also I always forget that you need to be in presentation mode for it to play the sounds too.

I know this doesn't really help anyone directly, but I thought I'd post them anyway. I made 2 flipcharts explaining how to use containers. One is for single object, single container, the other is for single container, multiple objects.

If anyone has any feedback or corrections, I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks much, Dentje. I'll share them with a group of teachers this morning!! Much appreciated!

Hello! ????
I have worked and worked and just can't get this flipchart to do right with containers. I am wanting on the second page of the flipchart for the correct candy pieces to go in the correct candy jars. Is there a problem with my candy pieces being grouped do you think? I took a picture of the candy (though they are not pictures on this flipchart I am sending, they are still grouped) but no better luck that way. help please? Thanks sooooo much!

I think there are two problems. The first is the containers were locked to the background so I couldn't get to there properties. The second is that as you've grouped the word and the sweet (the UK term for candies:D) you can't access the keywords or you could sort by key words. Leave it with me I'll have a think.

Hi Cindy,

I looked at your flip. I took a photo, like you suggested and it worked that way. Make sure you give the sweets a key word and state that you want the container to contain them. I just gave them i and a. Have a look and let me know if this is what you wanted. +wave+

Alison!
Thank you soooo much for making my flipchart page work!!!!! Is there any way you can take me step by step how you contain some and some are not. I understand how to choose and set up the container, the part I get stuck on is naming the things to contain and how do I indicate what NOT to contain. Thank you so much for taking time to help me! I appreciate it sooo sooo much!

Cindy,

Pick the image you want the container to contain, double-click on it, and go to the properties icon to the right of the trash can. When you click on Identification on the left, you will see a keywords box on the right. That's where you type in the key word that you have identified the container to contain.

If the keyword is not there, then it won't contain the item.

Does that make sense? Am jumping in on the discussion in case Alison is not available to answer at the moment! ;)

Thanks for jumping in Char! ;) I wasn't able to log on again till now! Cindy, do as Char says. If you look at the one I did for you I put the 'a' container to contain anything with a keyword of 'a' and the 'i' container to do the same with 'i'. If you click on each sweet, go to properties and you'll see under identification that I gave each one the apropriate key word. If that doesn't make sense, let us know and someone will break it down even more! +wave+
