Hello!
I've been trying to adapt a nifty doubles memory game I downloaded from the resources section to make a register.
(I've attached the rough draft so far.)
The cunning plan is that the children click on their square and it will show that they are here.
I have been able to adapt the existing 'cards' but cannot make new ones (I need 30). If I copy/paste from the ones I've got or cut/paste from other games the end result is always the same - when I click on a card it opens a completely different one.
I have no idea how these fancy cards were made so I can't make more from scratch. So, does anyone have any ideas how I can copy a new line of them that actually work!
TIA
Emma

Hello, Emma, and good morning (Depending on what part of the world you're in). I think I can help. Make sure you are in design mode, then double-click on the colored boxes (Or the white boxes) and go to properties (The page with a hand pointing to it). Under Restrictions all the objects have movement, rotation, and resizing set to no (Hence why they're immobile). You'll want to leave these alone until your items are in place, of course. Under Actions, the colored squares have an action that sends the object itself to the back of the bage (Presumably behind the colored background) while the white squares have an action which sends their corresponding colored square to the top. If you name your squares in such a way you can know which is which you should be able to duplicate this effect. By the way, if you are having trouble getting things to line up properly, try using the snap to grid tool. Hopefully this helps!

By the way, to make your life a little easier (I hope), here's one with a working 6th row.
I love these forums- Every time I come here, I learn how to do something else with the software!

I am not sure where you found this template you've been working on, but your problem was a blessing to me! I have been thinking about making a memory game and getting this has cut the work down considerably![clap] Having all the squares already made and the actions set up helped a lot! I made three different games yesterday in no time at all. So, your problem was my answer! :)
Thanks!

Thanks, I now have made a new registration page for next year. I was trying to copy the effect while adapting a US flipchart about getting to know you. The problem is when I try to choose a fav colour ( on page 6) the wrong one comes up. I think I have all the actions right but do I need to use the "set" button as well as "to top/bottom" Can anyone help? See attached flip.

Yes, you need to use set to to identify the object you wish to move. When you clcik on set you can see all of the objects on the page displayed in the menu window - scroll down the list to find the required object.

Thanks Dan. [clap]I can't open your attached flip - getting the message "not a valid flipchart, may have been created with a later version of the software!!:eek: I have AP3 and checked from the dashboard for any updates! Not to worry cause your explanation makes sense and I will be able to adapt it myself.{}
Cheers
No such problem for me with Dan's flp. Opened without a problem.

Sorry Dan!! They will all now do what they are told - EXCEPT the black square. Could you take a peek and see if you can find the mistake cos I can't see what is different about it! AAAAgggghhh????

Different Dan, but hopefully I can help anyway. For some reason or another, the square with text corresponding to the black square was showing up as invisible, so I created my own and adjusted the actions accordingly. Oddly enough, I could not convince any of the objects to return to their original positions, so I checked the actions and found many of them did not have actions assigned or did not have targets set. So that should also now be resolved if it was an issue on your end.

Thanks Dan - must be some magic in that name;) I hadn't set the actions to go back - I was frustrated enough with the black square!!!! All sorted now thanks to you - even though I don't understand how the square turned invisible!

I don't seem to have any of these options. I'm still in an old version of AP so I guess this must be a new feature!
At the top of the page I had planned to make a pile of boxes with a day of the week written on each one so you could click through them until you got to the right one. Oh well - guess we'll have to stick with drag and drop for now. At least I'll know how to do it if we ever upgrade!!

I still can't find the options you have talked about in my old version of AP. So, this is a very cheeky request. Feel free to ignore it if you are too busy!
I've put all my days of the week at the top of the page. If you have a spare moment. Could you please possibly set their action to go to the back when clicked.
Thank you very very much!
Em
P.S. Feel free to use this as a template for your own things anyone!
Hi there,
You are quite right, you need version 3 to be able to do these things. I have set the actions for you so it should work!

Thank you so much!
That is going to be a fab register thanks to everybody's help.
We usually have a 'drag and drop' register but find that the new arrivals in reception struggle at first. So this time we can have a simple click on your name one, and progress to a drag and drop dinner register after Christmas!
[clap]Thanks again![clap]
