In ActivPrimary 2.5 my reception class and I used to make talking books a lot by drawing or building up a picture from the resource bank adding text then recording ourselves reading the text using the sound recorder. However when we do this in ActivPrimary 3 it adds the sound recorder icon behind any picture the children have drawn so we can't find it. Is there anything I can do to make the sound recorder icon get put onto the top layer rather than behind the picture that has been drawn? I can't find anything in the settings. It seems like a strange design decision and my class hate it. We use the sound recorder for things everyday so at the moment we've gone back to using 2.5!

Hi Emma, welcome to the forum!
To put a sound icon above everything else:
1. enter design mode,
2. right-click on the sound
3. Select Top Layer.
You might also need to right-click and select To Front to put it above everything on the top layer.
Hope that helps,
Also, I'm sure people would be interested to see any of your ideas using sounds, if you have any to share please let us know!!!
Thanks
Simon
Hi Emma
To always keep recorded sound objects on top, go into Settings, select Flipchart Objects and deselect the Objects to Front, setting.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your replies. As for our ideas. We use the sound the recorder constantly. The children use it independently to respond to pictures I have put on the flipchart e.g. responding to photos from a school trip or pictures by famous artists that I have put on a flipchart for them to view. They also use the sound recorder independently to record messages for me and others in the class. For example when we start a topic they record any questions they want to explore about the topic. We use the sound recorder together as well e.g. for recording our own shared talking stories. The children love reading these stories again and again - it's a great way to encourage emergent readers! Great ideas Emma, thanks!
Really like to read how people use the software in the classroom,
There was an excellent thread six months ago full of microphone ideas, thought you might be interested: click here (http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/common/html/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=2559&highlight=microphone)
