Yes, they are demonstrating this "Activarena" at NECC in Atlanta this week. It's supposedly a preview not a final product. But I saw a sneak-peak yesterday and it is pretty amazing!

I'll confirm that Arena is at NECC, and while the pens didn't quite look like that (Don't know where that image came from- anyone in the UK know?), the dual pens seem to be working well and some of the things that the presenters are doing with them are exciting.

We've been waiting since we first heard about multiple input last January. How can a site register to become one of the advanced interaction pilot projects that will be run throughout 2007? [clap]

Hello!
I am really excited about the dual pens. I have been hired to be an instructional coach using Promethean software at my school. I will work with the teachers in my school developing flips and making the boards really interactive. I would love to get involved in a pilot program. Where do we sign up?

Hi BJ,
Don't know about the pilot stuff but have you tried the new Promethean Learning courses? In your role, you should find that they can be very helpful for your teachers to make best use of their Activclassrooms.
The Activstudio and Activprimary Foundation Skills courses are up and running and completely FREE! The courses cover version 3 of the software so even if you are an accomplished user, it would be a great refresher course!
Here's the url:
This is the US site.

I have just gotten back from NECC myself. I had the privilege to be able to do several presentations with activareana! Though the pens were a prototype, it is very exciting what will be coming to an activboard near you! Can I say big time collaborative work environment. From what I understand the multi-user input will be an upgrade and a new board will not be required. It will be a purchase. It will be a kit with the software, and the pens. One of those pens being a teacher pen and a student pen. It was an awesome experience, and as a classroom teacher, I saw the possibilities as endless. Think about the possibilities that you have had with your activclassroom and raise it to the infinite power.:). As my UK counterparts who presented with me in the Activclassroom would say, "Brilliant"!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Unless, of course you have boards over a certain age.:(
The older boards will not support the upgrade, I understand.
Perhaps someone could clarify. I think it's any that have the black oval in the top left corner of the board.

This is correct. Because of the way in which the "oval window" boards were manufactured it is not possible to upgrade them to receive dual pen technology....sorry!+wave+

See the experts have spoken:)
Does anyone want 3 'black oval' boards? I'm offering a very good price.:(

Is there a cost associated with upgrading your board into the dual pen option or is it a free upgrade? Do the pens cost more?
Thanks

I think so, It will came as a bundled upgrade, with the software and the pens.

This may seem like a stupid question, but what is in the top left of boards that are not "black oval boards" ? I seem to recall (it's summer!) that my board has an oval in the top left. Maybe it's a circle. I don't know!
We only had them installed at my school in January. Can we actually have the "older" boards when we just got them? I will be disappointed if we can not have the dual pen technology installed.
Alas...... ;) Guess I am going to have to drive to school and see what shape is in the top corner! Maybe I am wrong and it is something else! :D Here's hoping!
Holli
Holli,
Save yourself a drive. If it was January it's got to be a newer board (smaller white/gold or white/blue circle with Mr Promethean featured - I think).
The black oval is large and unmissable and is a board with a smaller 'ACTIV' area for writing on.
Believe me, you'd know.
Didn't mean to panic anyone:o.
