????Does anyone out there in Promethean land know where I could possibly find a TI-12 interactive calculator for my board? I have found lots of wonderful scientific calculators, but they are all too complex for my 5th grade students. The "adult" calculator is far too simplistic, though. I am currently still running version 2.5 but will hopefully upgrade to 3.0 soon. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! +wave+

It's not free, but
http://www.eaieducation.com/78003.html
appears to be an "overhead" (whatever that may mean) TI-12 emulator ..
Any use?
Failing that, there's Rusty Wagner's free TI emulator, but it doesn't do the 12 model.. Perhaps if you mailed him and asked? Couldn't hurt!
Cheers,
Gerard

I appreciate you responding to my question. This calculator is used only with an overhead projector. I already have one of these. What I need is the "computer version" that I can use on my Promethean board. I don't have a document camera, so it won't be much use to me unless I drag my overhead projector out.
Thanks, anyway!!! +wave+

Who is Rusty Wagner, and how do I get in touch with him?
Thanks, again!! :D

Rusty Wagner is the genius who has written a free TI emulator. It doesn't do the 12, but does other models..
Unfortunately, I hadn't realised that this software hasn't been updated in a few years and it seems that his webpage (ergo his email address) is dead..
For some information about the TI emulator, refer to:
http://www.answers.com/topic/virtual-ti
There's another link there to Zophar's site.. Unfortunately, it's blocked by our filtering just now (sassen frassen rassen), so I can't advise on that just now.
Note for your tech bods if you want to use Rusty's Virtual TI: Non-admin level users will almost certainly require write access to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ACZ
From memory, the software doesn't need installing on all PCs. You can run it from a server, so long as the registry key I mention above exists.. Just run the emulator on a PC so it gets generated and configured, and then you can export it for import to other PCs (this wibble will hopefully make sense to your techs)..
Cheers,
Gerard

Gerard,
Thank you SOOO much for your quick replies. I am still hopeful that somewhere out there I could find this particular calculator, but it looks as if I may be out of luck. It seems that there are either very elementary calculators available or more advanced scientific calculators available. There is NOTHING out there, that I can find, for the intermediate grades, 4th and 5th. :(
Anyway, thanks again.
Nerissa
P.S. If anyone else out there knows where I can find this, PLEASE let me know. I would even settle for a TI-15.:-/

There are other calculators out there as I have seen discussions about this on this forum. Why don't you do a search of the forum with the word "calculator" I think there are even some flash ones that are posted!

Lisa,
I did do a search and found quite a few very nice calculators. Unfortunately, none of them were ones that I could use with my 5th graders.
I do thank you for the suggestion. :-/

Can you list the features you would want in the calculator?
A FLASH version could perhaps be made.

Sorry!!! I've been VERY busy going to training, meetings, doing trainings, getting my classroom ready, etc., that I haven't had time to reply!
Well, I have just recently found out that Texas Instruments no longer produces the TI-12 calculator! Now, I need the TI-15 calculator.
If anyone knows of a flash version of this, PLEASE let me know. When I get the chance, I'll try to post what functions it performs.
Thanks!!!

I have downloaded the Virtual TI files from www.ticalc.org. Does anyone know how I can set one of the third column icons on the toolbar to open up the TI emulator automatically? I have managed to get the display part of the calculator up but no skin - the body of the calculator doesn't seem to be attached. I have all the files unzipped and I've used it before successfully as a stand-alone thing. If anyone could help, it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
PS This is for use with the TI-83 Plus calculator.

My guess is that your Flash player is not up to date. Go to www.adobe.com (http://www.adobe.com) and get the latest version.
