While making training clips for staff, using Active Primary3, I'm trying to import the resulting AVI files into Adobe Premiere for editing. However I find that though I can hear sound I can see no images.

I've looked at the settings in screen recorders and see many different video codecs and want to know if any one of them is specific to the task.

Premiere imports every imaginable format of video so I can't get to the bottom of the ACTIV avi file problem. They play back perfectly using Media pPayer not con some other commonly available players where they flash intermittently on screen.

Any ideas?

The AVI file is encocded with a special codec. This can be freely downloaded.

This may help Premiere deal with the AVI correctly

This codec appears to already exist in Activ 3 though it still doesn't work withAdobe Premierehowever it does work in Windows Movie Maker which should easily do everything I need for simple instructional clips. Thanks.

Not resolved. I've now tried importing several clips and they have all defaulted to 3.43secs. That is the maximul length of any clip imported into Movie Maker. When played in Media Player they play to full length. Would you please try this at your end to see if you get similar results?

I would suggest that you contact Promethean technical support or explore the Support knowledgebase for more information.

I would doubt either suggstion would be of help because the issue involves third party applications. However, the Camtasia screen recorder allows you to edit your recordings. I know this means an additional purchase but it could save a lot of hassle.
