We currently have activboard 1 systems in 6 classrooms. The projectors are put up in the morning and then taken down at the end of the day. We are looking to purchase more activboard systems (approx 7 more). This would mean putting all 13 projectors on in the morning and taking 13 projectors down at the end of the day. The above is done in the interest of security.

We are looking to purchase activboard 2 systems to combat this, however the site manager is worried about the projectors being stolen even with the security cage on. What I would like to know is how effective/sturdy are the security cages, as the projectors will be on "display" for thieves to figure out how to remove.

Has anybody had their projectors stolen from the security cages?

The +2 projectors are bright orange (so easy to identify)... have special lenses that only work in a certain configuration and have both a security watermark and security code linked to the remote control...

While there may be some opportunistic attempt to take the projector - they would be very likely to find that it would not work and be sellable and not come back for more.

Thieves targetting school projectors will probably realise by now that the +2 types are not the best to look out for.

Any other responses would be interesting...

You could get the kids to develop a set of additional special alarms as a problem solving exercise.

Combine the above with warning posters in every window that points out the futility of trying to nick them and it should work!

Great Idea,,,

We should include a PDF online with suitable messages for would be thieves!.

"Looking for a projector? - Look elsewhere!"

"Don't look like a lemon (sorry an Orange!)"

Bet the kids could think of some good ones!

Thanks for the advice. However I would like to know if there have been any +2 projectors stolen with the security cages on them?

In Germany we mount these security cages on the wall. So if you use good dowels/screws it is highly secure there. :D
Therefore we havenīt any problems of thiefs.
