I've attached a flipchart that shows what must be an optical illusion when different coloured texts are placed in proximity. You probably already know this, but I've only just discovered it ! +wave+

Similar but different.

Nice try Dug but I don't think the black text with the white shadow really worked!

Was a bit harder to read!

True, Vicky. A bit rushed.
I actually use an idea like this for the titles/headings for my classroom displays. I use letter templates to cut out the letter shapes from coloured paper. I then cut them all out in black paper. Finally, I glue the black leter to the back of the coloured letter, but slightly offset it. The effect is to make them look a bit 3-D/shadowed and it definitely adds impact.

Its a good effect - I used to use it for design before Photoshop and Illustrator had the Drop shadow capability (showing my age there!)

I've adapted the flipchart to show another effective way of shadowing!

Hope you like it

When I opened the flipchart it has a text box with what looked like html codes. Could it be because I am a Mac user?

Or the original may have been created with 'multi-language text edit support' selected?

Maybe this flipchart page will explain why this happens.

I quite often use this effect with the text grouped in order to create hyperlinks - e.g. to sound files. Sometimes I want a text link, but just a plain piece of text never seems special enough.
