Attached is a new flash based flipchart ticker.
I think this could be useful across all ages and subjects for teachers.
************************************************** **************************
This flipchart has several files embedded in it, including a flash file, image files and a xml file
In order to customize the ticker, the user needs to extract and edit the config.xml file with the chosen text and correct image and URL paths.
To extract the embedded files, please rename the file with a zip extension.
Then unzip this zip archive. A folder will be generated with all the embedded files including the flp file.

I honestly do not know how you created this or how to do all the unzipping and zipping, etc. But I like what you did. It is very cool - but I don't know how I could use this myself unless I really understood it... I may have to find someone who is much better at the techie stuff to walk me through it. :o

Hi Tai_ann,
Hope the following instructions help you customize the flipchart ticker to your need. ( For some reason I have not been able to view the ticker on a Mac platform).

-First download the flipchart.
-Rename the file as ticker.zip
-Then using the unzip program, unzip the renamed zipped file
-This will create a folder called ticker.
-Inside this folder you will see many files....a flash.swf file, config.xml, several image files.
-Open the config.xml file with Notepad.
-You will scripts on this file. Follow the script logic and you will soon recognize the text that appears in the ticker. Change the text to your liking.
-Make sure you do not change any syntax, otherwise it will break.
-replace the image files with your files.
-edit the image file path to match your image file names.

Now open the flipchart file. you should see the flipchart ticker now just the way you made it.
-make sure that the flipchart file is in the same folder as all the other files.

dont hesitate to ask for help if you get stuck.

It's not just you (or me) - I could see the opening screen on my Mac but it didn't play. Can't wait to see it on a PC.

I edited this file for a bit of fun and I don't know if anyone will fare better than me, but I have a "beta" version of the software and I got a message that the flipchart was created with a later version of the software. :o

Having said that - in theory, here's how to edit the scroller - its long and quite involved so if you are a non-techie go and read a more interesting thread now :D
These are instructions for PC users using IE7 - Mac users should adjust instructions to suit Safari (or other browser)
1. Rename Gautam's file from ticker.flp to ticker.zip
2. Unzip the file
3. Locate the config.xml file
4. Double click it and it will open in your browser
5. Choose View Source from the browser's Page menu
6. This should open the file in Notepad
7. Edit the file to suit in Notepad - just change the text items, or the weblinks.
8. Edit the images links to point to your images if you wish - these images need to be in the same folder as the config.xml file
9. You may delete unwanted images from this folder
10. Don't change the structure of the xml file, however you may copy and paste "blocks" if you want to increase the number of entries.
11. Save the edited xml file
12. Now zip the files in this folder up to ticker.zip
13. Rename ticker.zip to ticker.flp
14.Open the flipchart
 This is where it went awry for me - hope you fare better +wave+

:p
You beat me to it Gautam! However, aren't steps 11-14 in my explanation important?

Yes Peter steps 11 -14 is important if the user wants to embed all the files into the flipchart as a single flp file.

However if the user does not want to do that , then all the user has to do is save the xml and make sure that all the files including the flp file is in the same folder and then launch the flp file.
