I am grappling with the Actions and Properties available in V3. I have finally cracked Containers but haven't got around to working out how to append text. Can anyone tell me where this is explained? I've tried the V3 "New Features Guide" and it is not even mentioned! (Failing that I'd be very grateful if you simply explained it to me!

This might help.....[clap]
I used that flipchart to learn how to append text too - it's brilliant!
The only thing I couldn't work out though was how to make an empty text box - which is what you need to be successful. Dan Bunker explained that if you put the text tool anywhere on the page and pressed the space bar it would effectively make an empty text box.

[clap] Hi, new to the forum and love it. I have just read your threads then worked on the example flip chart and have done it myself. If you make sure that you put a background colour it is easy to see your text box.

I appreciate the forum and I will look at the flipchart and continue trying to work it out, but it would be much faster and less frustrating if there were instructions somewhere. Surely this information should be in the New Features reference guide?
Hi 1954jrg,
I always find I learn more when I deconstruct someone elses flipchart and work out what they have done. If this doesn't work for you - shout and I (or someone else) can explain it step by step.

Hi Lou
I would appreciate a step by step guide. I tried to deconstruct the flipchart but can't understand how you tell the text where to go!!!
Thanks
Hi,
I have made a flipchart to explain how it is done. I have made it in AP but I am sure it is the same in AS (just different coloured boxes!)

Thanks Lou
Those instructions are just what I needed! Going to get started right away!! (Hope no one's looking for their dinner till later!)
I really like the append text feature. Those familiar with Clicker 5 software will appreciate how powerful this feature is.[clap][clap][clap]

The problem with an exhaustive manual is that it takes time to write so we release the 'new features' guides to be going on with. And as Pete says, this forum is a great place to answer specific questions. Of all the users of Activboards we can never be sure what is going to be the burning issue for everyone and there will be times when for one or two users we don't get it right.

Just to agree with David, this is what the forum is for...ask the questions and someone out there in geekosphere will know the answer :D

Not sure I like the geekosphere part there Pete! :p

Hi,
Does anyone know the answer to this one? I have made a flipchart with Append text. You click on the picture and a sentence comes up then you sort them into true and false. That works well yet then I want to reset it at the end of the activity so the sentences are gone and you have to click on the pictures again. I have just made sure I use the undo button yet this is not as efficient as I would like it.
Thanks
Simone
You could use a reset page action. There is one already in the resource library or you can easily make your own (select an object you want to be the reset button - in design mode click on properties, actions, page then scroll through the list until you see reset page).
Then in presentation mode this will reset the page back to how it was when you last saved it.

Thanks for that one Lou [clap] - I didn't know you could set your own icon as a reset page - must have missed it in the actions box:eek:
