No, not the weather :-/
In the last few weeks, we are finding that occasionally when annotating on the board with the pen, the board (or the software) stops responding. Our workaround is to just wait. After 10 secs or so a few random lines appear on the board, we erase those and continue as before.
When investigating, I found out that the computer wasn't being shut down automatically at night so had been running 24/7 for weeks. Turning it off and back on didn't help.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Seems to me the problem must be the computer (new last year), the ActivStudio V3 software (but it worked fine for a few weeks before the problem arose), the driver (haven't yet installed the latest version) or the pen (but if so, why is this problem sporadic).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. ????
Cheers
Rex

I get this random event once in a while also, running 2.5.69 on a Mac (updated drivers, etc.). Annotating will produce what I have called "shards" of lines. This has happened at the beginning of a stroke and in the midst of one. I also just undo the writing and move on, typically without reoccurence. It hasn't been frequent enough to pursue, but it has been enough so to write, "Me, too!"
Also, while my experience with annotating is that it is typically rather precise, at times my smallish writing can produce harder to read annotations. But only sometimes.
I'd be curious to hear possible explanations...besides write bigger.

I have the most updated software version and driver for (3.0 PC's) available. I had the problem of my computer freezing when using TEXT RECOGNITION - but only when I would click on the red "T" to change the type of font/size/color that I was using. I let Tech Support know and Antonio said it made his computer freeze as well...
However, my problem sounds different than yours - so I doubt that they are connected or related. I guess triple checking on the dashboard under "SUPPORT" to make sure that you have the most updated version and then reporting your problem to Tech Support is the best way to make sure it gets fixed if indeed it is a driver or software issue. :)

This is a known bug where the text recognition dialog box appears behind the flipchart. The computer doesn't actually freeze, it is waiting for input. To solve this prior to the next patch you would need to use ALT-TAB to cycle the dialog box to the front

Yes there is an upgrade patch - access it through the Dashboard. I am not sure if the current patch does fix this problem however.

Heather,
I was having this same problem of the screen going blank and it kept getting worse. It would happen 5 or 6 times a class period!!
I was told to go to studio settings and click on flipchart objects.Under high quality uncheck lines and shapes. It has not gone blank since and has not affected anything that I do. I am a math teacher also.

Thank you so much, I will try that I upgraded my software yesterday, and had a blank out again today. I hope that this works, thanks+wave+

Peter,
I was excited to see your quick fix below, but this is not very successful for me, especially if I already have another program running under Activstudio such as Explorer. I can get to it by doing some tweaking but it's not intuitive. Are they planning on fixing this in the next patch? I have 3.0.93. Thanks!

Yes Shawna, of course they are. As soon as bugs are discovered they get fixed on the next patch

No longer freezing ....[clap]
In the post that started this topic, I said that our board seemed to freeze up briefly at irregular but frequent intervals. If we waited patiently, the problem would resolve itself. Until the next time it happened.
We changed a few things without success. Eventually we concluded that the board, pen and ActivStudio are all working fine, so the problem must be the computer (even though it was purchased last year).
So we did a new 'build' on the computer (reinstalling all software) and that seems to have fixed the problem - no glitches for the past fortnight or so.
FYI.
Cheers

When you uncheck the box, the writing quality is less. It causes the letters to become a little fuzzy. Are they working on a fix for this problem?

The freezing problem on the board has been solved by the latest driver upgrade - available from Promethean World (not available through the dashboard)
Since i installed it my board has not frozen once. Remember to uninstall the previous Activ Driver from "add remove programmes" in control panel before installing the new one!
