I vaguely remember someone saying last year that AS3 would support animated gifs. I dragged one onto a flipchart today, without success.

Does AS3 support animated gifs?

If not, would one of the flash experts on the list be willing to convert the attached animated gif to flash?

It is a really cool puzzle by the way, by swapping two pieces of the puzzle, you can turn 12 men into 13 men. Where does the extra man come from?

Cheers

I was able to add an animated gif last night to AP3 from MS Clipart Organizer.

See the post at: http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/common/html/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=3011&page=2&pp=10&highlight=animated+gifs

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Suzanne, got it to work!

Last night I tried to drag the animated gif from an email. It wouldn't drag so I copied and pasted instead. The image pasted but without the animation.

This morning I dragged it from a folder (rather than an email) and I was able to do it successfully. And pasting wasn't an option.

So, if there is a cool animated gif in an email, save it to a folder and drag it onto a page from there. At least if you are using IE6.

Cheers

Hi Suzy,

I played around with this and added some animated gifs to a flipchart. I also found out that I have a limited installation of the MS clipart.

I was able to access the animated gif from the MS Online clipart gallery, save it to the clipboard and then drag it right from the gallery onto the flipchart page.{}

Thanks for sharing your discovery with us!

Hi Kathy,

It's fun, but I'm not sure when I'll use this technique. Thanks for taking the time to try it out. [clap]

I suspect that the extra man's name was Sam Lloyd - the famous American puzzler of years gone by.[clap]

Does this mean that the gifs that are used in PP are able to be used successfully in AS???

This could add a whole level of coolness to the screens. This is what I have been lacking... I will be cool now... YES! :D

Well not really cause I am still a teacher and we are never really cool. Old age sux.
