I have created a chart, and when they are grouped, the buttons do not give me an option for actions. Can anyone help. I have rearranged it, and regrouped them, and was able to get the box to link after ungrouping, but I cant figure out why I just can't change the layer or something to make it work.

Any help would be great.

Two ways of solving this problem

1) Group the objects together then snapshot them so that become and image in their own right

2) Give each bit of the group the same keywords and actions before grouping them
TBH - its easier to go with option 1!

I'vehad a quick play with the flipchart and I think that annotations cannot be assigned an action. Provided you only group text, shapes and images you should be OK. I don't think that the layer makes any difference (but I may be wrong - Active3 is still new to me).

You could work around this by putting a transparent shape over the top with the action attributed to this, and then group this to the "buttons" you have created. I've done this to the first button "Identify what sides are given" in this revised version.
Hope this is what you meant.

I just used a transparent box over them all, and didn't even bother to group them. I figured if I ran into problems, I could just lock the boxes. Thanks for the work around. I did it at school and forgot to send it to myself, but I will attach it tomorrow, and submit it as soon as I put the standards.

I'm New to this equipment. I do not know what you mean by an annotation. Do you have to use the ones given or can you use some of your own?????

An annotation is something you draw with the pen or highlighter tools. (The eraser tool "writes" annotations as well.)

There are also "annotations in the library"

If you imagine each flipchart page in different layers, the annotations always go "on top." The background is on the bottom. And there are really lots of layers in between. Objects (like text and images) are in the middle but you can layer these too.

Hope this helps!

Be careful with how you define layers. There are only three layers in Activstudio: the bottom layer where backgrounds and grids 'live' but grids stay on top of backgrounds. Then there's the middle layer where all objects are - images, shapes, text objects etc. On the top layer all the annotations live: pen, eraser and highlighter annotations.
As objects or added to the page, they stay within their layer but lie on top of the previous object. The group of objects form a STACK wit in the layer. The To Front/To Back action works on any object in the stack. But objects or annotations can change layers either via the right click menu or in the Object Properties.

It takes a while to get your hea around it :o
