I was wondering if anyone knows Disney's policy on using their images for educational purposes. I wanted to use a background from one of their old TV Shows as the cover of a flipchart since it goes perfectly with my topic. I have heard though that if it involves Disney, forget about it. Thanks!

I am by no means a lawyer, but I believe that if you are not using it for profit, and only in the classroom, it should be alright. I know that copyright for educational uses is a bit different than other uses, so you should have some leaway.

If you are using an image off the internet, I would just cite your source in the page notes.

You can also research copyright on the internet. I found this page - http://www.wideopendoors.net/copyright_information.html

Hope this helps.

Thanks Scott,

I'll check out the website. I thought too that if it wasn't for profit, then it's OK, but wanted to make sure.

You also need to be very careful not to 'redistribute' or share anything on Promethean Planet for example that may be suspect copyright.

Creative Commons is a reliable way of finding images that you can use in more flexible ways.

Wikipedia uses it... and the terms of use are usually made quite clear inc. how you cite them, etc.
