Hello everyone, I am very new to the world of ActivBoards, but I am in love with mine. I just got it (earlier this week) and am still feeling my way around the board. I updated to version 3 software and have a quick question...
When in the ActivResource Manager how do I use the "Education Games" or anything else for that matter found under "Gadgets and Widgets"? I wanted to try the memory game with my students, but cant figure out how to make it show up on my board.
Also, should there be anything in my folders marked "Shared Shapes" "Sounds", etc? They are empty, did I forget an install?
Thanks for all the help, this forum is a god sent!

I hope you enjoy your board. You realise that you can spend hours with this software and not even realise it! I'm new at the board also, but the folder with sound and shapes should have things in them. Also to access the educational games you need to have a flipchart open. The library will then be available and you open it and go to the game that you want - drag it onto the flipchart (hold the pen or cursor on the game and pull across to the flipchart). I hope this makes sense. I'm sure you will get even more help!

Thanks for the quick help, unfortunately I still am not getting anywhere. I tried what you mentioned, but I was unable to drag the game into an opened flipchart, I was given a cursor with a large "No" sign kinda like the sign that is around a cigarette that means no smoking. Does this make sense to anyone?
Also, what about my sounds, did I miss something on the install?

Did you down load the Resources drt up file when you updated to AS3? If you did and installed it, try re-indexing your shared resources (the A-Z button at the top of Activresource Manager). After that I've no idea! Sorry.

I've had a bit of a play. Regarding the Educational Games it sounds like you're trying to drag the games from Activresource Manager. Close the resource manager and open a black flipchart page. From the Toolstrip at the edge of the page open the Resource Library (the pile of books). In the Shared Resources Library ( the two heads button at the top of the Library window) go to Shared Activities, Gadgets and Widgets, Educational Games. You should then be able to drag the games onto the page and they should work. I've attached a flipchart with the image of what you should be seeing.

Thanks for the continued help everyone! I downloaded all the necessary files, I believe...When I try to re-index I get an error message saying that the library is currently being re-indexed and that cant be done.
Any thoughts?

Now I am getting somewhere Dave, thanks for the help. I was able to follow your directions until the very end. Once I dragged the game into the flipchart it went, but then partially disappeared!! All I was left with was a blank grid and nothing could be clicked on. No pink paw cards or anything.
What is going on?

Hello,
Not sure about your terminology here:
Activresource Manager
You can't open resources using the Activresource Manager. You use the Activresource Manager/ to organiser resources into different folders and to give them keywords/to export and import resources. But you can't actually open the resource.
Resource Library
To access resources, use the Resource Library. To find this, open a flipchart and click on the Resource Library button (on the Flipchart toolstrip - the right-hand strip of tools)
See attached images for clarity - your software could look a bit different.
You could be right about the shared sounds... I may be wrong here but early instals of version 3 seemed to miss out some sounds etc... try downloading and installing the resources again...

Prez
Can you do the last bit again and then save it as a flipchart and upload it here. I'll have play with it and see what's going on.

Your game looks fine on our machines so it's looks like you may not have the latest Flash player on your machine. So go to the Adobe website and download and install the latest version. Hopefully that should crack it!

You nailed it, I did not have my flash updated. Works great now!
Now, how about my lack of items in my "Shared" folders? Any ideas on that one?
Thanks so much guys!
Hi Prez I just opened your page and it worked fine on my computer. The pictures showed up and worked fine. I would maybe try uninstalling and then reinstalling version 3 doing a full install. Maybe something got mixed up on the first install?
Janice
Ooops sorry... I didn't realise that there was a page two and the problem already got solved!:D

Go to the Main Menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Your Resources should show there if they've been installed.
If they have been installed but aren't showing in your Resource Library then I'm stumped! :o
But if the Education games and Widgets are there I don't understand why there isn't anything else in the other folders. Send me a screen shot of the open Resource Library. It might give me a clue!
