View Full Version : What is the 'specific point' snap point?

Sorry, but this one is a bit technical and I'm stumped on it.

I understand how snap points work as restrictors for objects (They tell the system where to line up an object with a grid) and I'm au fait with how all of them should work apart from the last one - a snap point of 'specific point'. I understand that the previous one in the list, 'other place' allows you to choose where on the object you want the snap point to be, but what does specific point do? When I've tried it, it just seems to snap to 'top left'.

Any ideas...?

As you have discovered, 'Specific Point' is not really an option that has any user benefit currently. It was designed to allow the user to choose which of the points comprising the shape (or annotation) to be the snap point. However this has not been exposed to the user in current version.

Currently this sets itself to the first point in an object
eg annotations: its the first point on the line
shapes: top left corner etc.

In a future version we will probably make this point selectable ie with a traingle you could choose which one of the three points would be the snap point.

If you use the protractor to create a pie segment shape, you will notice that its snap and rotate point properties are set to 'Specific Point' , ie it has been set to be the centre point of the pie.
