View Full Version : Applying actions and other things to several objects at once

Hi all,
Many of you may know this, but it took me a while to realise that you can apply objects to several objects at once, which makes it so much quicker to make flipcharts.
For example, if you want to click on an object to bring an object behind it to the front, you can select all of the front objects (drag or ctrl and click) and then click on Properties and actions, choose bring to front. You can then click on each object in turn to specify which object you want to bring to the front.
Or a simpler example - select all the objects on a page which you want to be contained, and go to Properties, containers, and click the check box Return if not contained.
Hope this helps someone!
Cheers,

Wendy is correct. If you select more than one object on the page, then show the Properties and actions panel (eg press F4), it will show all the properties that are common to the selected objects.
This then allows you to alter a common property in one hit, eg moving all objects to position left = 100, top = 100, etc.
Remember. Each time you change a property, it is added to the Undo history, so you can easily undo it if required.
Hi Nigel,
Do I win a prize if I have worked out your signature?

Please share. That's always driven me crazy! (Nigel's signature!)

Ok
Forum Signatures. Funny, clever, interesting or simply an irritating distraction.
Although if it is 'irritating' I think there may have been a slight mistake in the code!

Yes I spotted that mistake - I thought maybe it was a new word!!
That is spooky. I was busy working the signature out simultaneously on another thread!
I thought it was a new word too, then decided that it was a mistake!

How sad are we! This is almost as bad as the octopus situation!

Oy Lou - just worked that out and then found this - ARGHH!!!
I agree a mistake was in Nigels code!
Nigel - Cfqi bkqz wnaz jr rff znoc!
His clue didn't make it too easy! I was sad enough to work it out a few weeks ago but tried to send a message to him but it wouldn't let me. Didnt really want to start a thread to show how sad I was in working it out!
Very good use of code though Cliff!

I think we are both bordering on the sad side Lou - way past midnight and we are working out coded messages!
Still great sense of achievement to crack it - even if you had already beaten me to it!
Cliff
The worst part is, he will probably work out another one now and in a few weeks/months time, we will be having the same conversation. Perhaps we should have left it!

I'm just grateful someone has worked it out. I can nver get my head head round these puzzles. :D

Hey. I thought no one was bothered !
Well done Lou. No prizes. Just a huge pat on the back.
Cliff. You're not expecting me to decipher yours are you? Perish the thought !
I could pretend that I deliberately introduced a bug in the code, but I'm sure you wouldn't fall for that. So its humble embarrassment from me. I'll pretend I created it at 2AM one morning after a heavy Studio debugging session.
I'm sure you all know by now that in the strange world of the software industry, 'bugs in code' are a fact of life I'm afraid.
